  • Tim McGraw- I'm Workin

I heard this song just now, and had to post it here.
(I didn't find anything when I searched the forums quickly to try and avoid a repost.)

(MODS: These lyrics aren't posted on the artist's official website, so you may need to delete this thread since my posting them here may violate copyright law (I'm not educated in such high-falutin' subjects).)

    -----------------------------------------------------
    Tim McGraw
    Let it Go
    I'm Workin

Damn I hope no one dies on this night shift tonight
Always lit up like a Roman candle
Everybody comes in like they're looking for a fight
I'll have to tell his family as he rides off to Heaven
Then twenty minutes later I'm drinking my coffee down at the Seven Eleven
    I'm workin'
    Yeah I'm workin'

All these truckers out here drive with one hand on the wheel and a cell phone to their ear
Apologizing for something they missed or can't get to I'm sorry to my dear
Yeah but that's the way it goes and we sure need the money
This life of ours is far from perfect ain't it honey
    But I'm workin'
    Baby I'm workin'

So make the kids do their homework before you put 'em to bed
And there's dinner in the fridge make sure everybody gets fed
And I know I won't get to see you before you leave for your day
I guess it's the only time that we get to say 'I love you'
    Baby I love you

Show the last kids on the school bus as I lay me down to sleep
And I keep hurrying and worrying and wondering and praying
For all my soul can keep
I know I couldn't do it if you weren't there
There'd be no home to come home to no reason to care

So I just had to call you before I faded away
I guess it's the only time that we get to say 'I love you'
    Baby I love you

    I love you
    I love you

Damn I hope no one dies on this night shift tonight

    -----------------------------------------------------

Here's a link to Amazon's sample of the song.
    Y'all rock.
    Stay safe.

    That's crazeh.....

EDIT: Kay I'm not sure if it was written by my ex now....haha....I just found it with his Nexopia name written underneath it and I assumed that it was written by him....

    I WANT TO TELL LIES

I want to tell you lies.
I want to tell that little boy his mom will be just fine.
I want to tell that dad we got his daughter out in time.
I want to tell that wife her husband will be home tonight.
I don't want to tell it like it is.
I want to tell them lies.

You didn't put their seat belts on, you feel you killed your kids.
I want to say you didn't but in a way, you did.
You pound your fists into my chest, you're hurting so inside.
I want to say you'll be ok.
I want to tell you lies.

You left chemicals within his reach and now it's in his eyes.
I want to say your son will see, not tell you he'll be blind.
You ask me if he'll be ok, with pleading in your eyes.
I want to say that yes he will.
I want to tell you lies.

I can see you're crying as your life goes up in smoke.
If you'd maintained that smoke alarm, your children may have woke.
Don't grab my arm and ask me if your family is alive.
Don't make me tell you their all dead.
I want to tell you lies.

I want to say she'll be okay, you didn't take her life.
I hear you say you love her and would never hurt your wife.
You thought you didn't drink too much, you thought you could drive.
I don't want to say how wrong you were
I want to tell you lies

You only left her for a moment, it happens all the time.
How could she have fell from there, you thought she couldn't climb.
I want to say her neck's not broke, and she will be just fine.
    I don't want to say she's paralyzed.
I want to tell you lies.

I want to tell this teen his buddies didn't die in vain.
Because he thought it'd be cool to try and beat that train.
I don't want to tell him this will haunt him all his life.
I want to say that he'll forget.
I want to tell him lies.

You left the cabinet open and your daughter found the gun.
Now you want me to undo the damage that's been done.
You tell me she's your only child, you say she's only five.
I don't want to say she won't see six.
I want to tell you lies

He fell into the pool when you went to grab the phone.
It was only for a second that you left him alone.
If you let the damn phone ring perhaps your boy would be alive.
But I don't want to tell you that.
I want to tell you lies.

The fact that you were speeding caused that car to over turn.
We couldn't get them out of there before the whole thing burned.
Did they suffer? Yes, they suffered, as they slowly burned alive.
I want to tell you lies.

But I have to tell it like it is, until my shift is through.
And then the real lies begin, when I come home to you.
You ask me how my day was, and I say it was just fine.
I hope you understand, and sometimes...
I have to tell you lies.

Never argue with idiots - they just drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Chaos, Panic and Disorder....my work here is done!

As her tears fell at his feet, she didn't say "I Love You," what she said meant even more: I laugh, I love, I hope, I tried. I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry and I know you do the same things too. So we're really not that different, me and you.

            I just saw this...

I Want To Tell You Lies was written by and is legally copyrighted to Kalvere Lyan, a Minnesota firefighter. He is my brother. The poem was originally emailed to 13 people (cops, firefighters and spouses of them) and that was as far as it was intended to go. It had his name and copyright info in three places. Some of them forwarded it to their own mailing lists, who forwarded it to theirs, etc. Someone along the line removed his name and copyright info and that version kept getting forwarded. Some of his writing is published in various Firefighter magazines. His "Lies" poem was published in Carefree Enterprise, May 2002.

This is his statement on the website by that poem:

Copyrighted to Kalvere. Do not reproduce in any form without the author's express permission. Kalvere, the author, is from Minnesota and would welcome any comments at the following email address: [email protected] aol.com

            A MESSAGE FROM KAL:

In has recently come to my attention that my poem "I Want To Tell You Lies" has been reproduced on many websites without my knowledge or consent, often written as "Author Unknown". I am not "Unknown", I am Kal! If you see this poem posted anywhere without my name AND complete copyright (as written above), then it is posted without my consent. Please send me an email with a link to where you saw it so I may address the copyright violation. My poems and stories are deeply personal and written from my heart, I do not mind sharing, I just want my name and copyright information attached, and my permission asked. Thank you. Be safe. Peace out, ~Kalvere

The only website other than my own that is authorized to post my poems and stories is this:

The above link is to "Firefighter's Real Stories" where he is a columnist for "Voice Of The Firefighter."

This is Kal's website, (which a friend of his made for him and he hasn't updated for quite a while!): http://www.geocities.com/kaltherebel/

He's a good writer and I'm very proud of him, his name deserves to be with his writing. It's OK to leave it here but if possible please add his name and copyright info to the posted poem.

            Thank you,

            Nikk

Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
              A girl with kaleidoscope eyes

Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
              Towering over your head
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
              And she's gone

Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
              Aaaaahhhhh...

Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmellow pies
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers
              That grow so incredibly high

Newpaper taxis appear on the shore
              Waiting to take you away
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds
              And you're gone

Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
              Aaaaahhhhh...

Picture yourself on a train in a station
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstyle
The girl with the kaleidoscope eyes

Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
              Aaaaahhhhh...
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
              Aaaaahhhhh...
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds (fade out)

              --------------------------------------------------------------------------

She's not a girl who misses much
Do do do do do do do do, oh yeah
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane
The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors
              On his hobnail boots
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
              Working overtime
A soap impression of his wife which he ate
And donated to the National Trust

              Down
I need a fix cos I'm going down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix cos I'm going down

              Mother Superior jump the gun
              Mother Superior jump the gun
              Mother Superior jump the gun
              Mother Superior jump the gun
              Mother Superior jump the gun
              Mother Superior jump the gun

Happiness is a warm gun (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm gun, mama (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
When I hold you in my arms (Oo-oo oh yeah)
And I feel my finger on your trigger (Oo-oo oh yeah)
I know no one can do me no harm (Oo-oo oh yeah)
Because happiness is a warm gun, mama (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm, yes it is, gun (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Well, don't you know happiness is a warm gun, mama? (Happiness is a warm gun, yeah)

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind
              Possessing and caressing me
              Jai Guru Deva OM

              Nothing's gonna change my world
              Nothing's gonna change my world
              Nothing's gonna change my world
              Nothing's gonna change my world

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
              Jai Guru Deva OM

              Nothing's gonna change my world
              Nothing's gonna change my world
              Nothing's gonna change my world
              Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of live are ringing through my open ears
              Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on, across the universe
              Jai Guru Deva OM

              Nothing's gonna change my world
              Nothing's gonna change my world

The long and winding road that leads to your door
              Will never disappear
I've seen that road before it always leads me here
              Leads me to your door

The wild and windy night that the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears crying for the day
Why leave me standing here, let me know the way
Many times I've been alone and many times I've cried
Anyway you'll never know the many ways I've tried
And still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to you door

But still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don't keep me waiting here (Don't keep me wait), lead me to you door
              Yeah, yeah, yeah, yea

              --------------------------------------------------------------------------

You say you want a revolution
              Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
              Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out

Don't you know it's gonna be alright
              Alright, alright

You say you got a real solution
              Well you know
We don't love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
              Well you know
              We're doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait

Don't you know it's gonna be alright
              Alright, alright, al...

You say you'll change the constitution
              Well you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
              Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow

Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
              Alright, alright

              Alright, alright
              Alright, alright
              Alright, alright
              Alright, alright
