Here is a quick story on what happened to me!
Had a lady make false accusations of sexual abuse against me. She was allowed to fill out her own complaint and affidavit. The Chief called me in and gave me two choices. Resign or be fired.
I then went down to talk with the county attorney and he was in an uproar on how the chief was handling this. The CO Attn said he'll try and get to the bottom of it. Meanwhile I told the chief I wasn't resigning and he then told me I was fired. The county attn then contacted the Chief. Then the chief called me up and advised me that I was not fired and I am now on unpaid suspension and the DCI was going to investigate.
The DCI came in and investigated and after 2 months they cleared me of any wrong doing. The second day of the DCI investigation they released my name to the press via press release. Here is the important part. Nothing was EVER FILED. Under advisement from the State attorneys office that nothing was to be filed and nothing ever was. That doesn't give the DCI the right to release my name since it's not public knowledge, right?? In the press release the DCI said a complaint was filed.
After the DCI investigation found no wrong doing the city still gave me the option to resign or be fired. I was 3 days from the end my probation period so I resigned with all back pay and such under advisement from my attorney.
Is the DCI in the wrong??
