  • National Public Safety Dispatcher's Week

Since no one has mentioned it yet.

And perhaps a reminder that we don't all suck.

I would like you to know, that I try hard to pass out the paper calls evenly.

And as a calltaker, I firmly advise when it is civil!

Thank God for dispatchers, who let me know that I'm dealing with a felon faster than my MDT can tell me, who can triangulate my exact location in a pursuit ( via GPS ) and advise units that are close to respond - before I even update my location, who remain calm in the craziest situations, thereby making officers on the ground even calmer, who invite you up the office for Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas dinner because they know you've been running around the road all day while everyone else is eating well, who tell you "Happy Birthday" when you sign off, after you've worked 14 hours on your birthday and are feeling pretty lonely.
All of that goes a long frickin' way and it is not lost upon those of us working the road.

                thanks.
