  • anti-street racing presentation

i'm interested in some good statistics for street racing crashes in precints around the country for some non-profit work the performance shop that i work for. we're planning on providing these presentations at schools, motorsports events, car meets and other places. as a shop we don't deal with street racers (we will REFUSE to deal with clients who are building their cars for street racing purposes) we deal with cars built for the track and are only ran on the track. we're compiling numbers for and drunk driving presentations, and seat belt safety. i'd appreciate the help and if you guys have any questions regarding any aspects of japanese cars i'm a pretty good person to come to.

Street racing isn't bad! I do it every night! Need for Speed, that is all I will say. . .

As to your question, Google is your friend!

The objective of this study was to determine the annual incidence of fatal motor vehicle crashes involving street racing and to describe the characteristics of these crashes compared to other fatal crashes in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Fatality Analysis Reporting System data for 1998–2001 were used for the analyses. There were 149 568 fatal crashes and 315 (0.21%) involved street racing and 399 fatalities occurred in these crashes. In contrast to other fatal crashes, street racing fatal crashes were more likely to occur on urban roadways and were nearly six times more likely to occur at travel speeds ≥65 mph. Compared with other drivers involved in fatal crashes, street racers were more likely to be teenagers, male, and have previous crashes and driving violations. Street racing involves risky driving behaviors and warrants further attention.

NHRA can help as well as the RCMP, LASD, LAPD, The Intrl. Brotherhood of Stree Racers and the Beat the Heat Assoc. We had stats on that stuff here, but the geek that took over our program is only into it for himself now. Check your local court system, too. They might be willing to help you on such a project.
