Barry Arrested, Claims He Was Targeted
Barry Considers Suit Against D.C., Park Police

WASHINGTON -- Marion Barry said that he is talking to his lawyers and thinking about suing the D.C. government and the U.S. Park Police after he was stopped, arrested and then released this past Saturday.

Barry said that he was driving to a holiday party around 4:30 p.m. Saturday when U.S. Park Police officers, who said that he was driving too slowly, stopped him.

Barry said the officers asked him for his license and registration and then said that his license was suspended.

Barry told NBC4 the suspension was a clerical mistake, and he accused the U.S. Park police of racial profiling.

Park Police said Barry's license was in fact suspended, and that's why he was arrested.

Barry was cuffed and taken to a park police station for processing.

Barry said the incident took several hours to work out and he was humiliated and severely inconvenienced. He said he wasn't able to drive all weekend due to a mistake by the D.C. government.

So far there's been no response from the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles.

Doesn't the DC area have a restriction that one cannot be a convicted felon and run for public office? I seem to recall that Berry was convicted of a felony, yet he is meddling again in the political arena. What a freaking loser. He belongs with the likes of O.J. and the "Night Stalker" IMHO!

As a friend who lives in DC said today, it would be moot to point out that the majority of DC civil service workers who would have handled the paperwork for his suspension and "reinstatement" (if it exists) are black. That wouldn't be in keeping with the race card "woe is me" professional victim train he's on.

And it not like this is only his second time in troube either. About a year ago, he was indited in Tax evation charges and put on probation, and a couple months ago, he was arrested by Secret Service Police on another feloony charge. If you cannot stay out of trouble for more than 2 years at a time, then you shouldn't be able to hold office.

Marion Shepilov Barry, Jr. (born March 6, 1936) served as Democratic mayor of Washington, D.C. from 1979 to 1991. He was forced to leave office during his third term as a result of his arrest and conviction on drug charges, but afterward again elected to the D.C. council and ultimately to the mayoralty, serving a fourth term from 1995 to 1999.

Never Mnd, the Secret Service did not arrest him:

DC Councilman Marion Barry is in trouble with the law again. The Secret Service cited him early Sunday morning for running a red light at 16th and H Streets in Northwest.

Police say they noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from the car.

Barry reportedly refused a breathalyzer test. He was not arrested.

                And Heres another one:

Well placed sources tell 9News that DC Councilman Marion Barry was barred from traveling out of town Friday and then ordered to report to the US District courthouse for a random drug test.

The test is part of Barry's probation for not filing his income taxes over several years.

Sources tell 9News Barry's probation officer ordered him to report to the US District courthouse -- to submit a urine sample -- hours after Barry allegedly caused a minor traffic accident just after midnight on First Street in Southeast. DC Police confirm that Barry was let go after passing a breathalyzer test.

Barry says he had been meeting a friend.

                  God#*mn bitch set me up!

Barry said this in front of an FBI camera after agents arrested him for smoking crack in a hotel room with an escort.

This phrase (and variants) was emblazoned on novelty tee-shirts at the time.

So, I guess he's trying to say that the DC government is no longer running like the well-oiled machine that existed under the Barry administration?

The "mayor for life" would probably have a much easier life if he took advantage of the city's excellent public transportation system. Plus, every trip would be a great opportunity for politickin'.

Im so sick of hearing morons like him bitch about the police when they are doing their jobs...I wont be suprised if some "civil rights" idiot comes along and tries to get the Officers fired...

The people of DC are also morons for electing this guy AGAIN. I kind of wish this guy resisted and they had to OC him or taze him...that would have been well deserved...

You know...for a city that cries so much about being downtrodden, they keep electing and covering for *******s like this.

This is a democracy, you get exactly what you elect and you are exactly what you elect. If you elect trash, then you will get and become trash. I hate that SOB and wish he'd get thrown out of a jet plane without a 'chute.
                        Considerably.....

83.9 on the Jeff Co. test! Woohoo!

Damn. I think we should take a small island, call it Moronisia, and deport all of our stupidest criminals to that island. If they work together, they can grow food and extract viable drinking water. If not, they die. Maybe even stick a bunch of cameras all over the island to watch them for entertainment. .

This guy has done about all you can do to prove that he is not fit for public office...or...any office. Actually...just plain not fit. Out of shape.
-I don't feel you honor someone by creating a physical gesture (the salute). You honor them by holding them in memory and, in law enforcement, proceeding in vigilant, ethical police work. You honor this country or deceased soldiers or whatever you're honoring when you salute a flag by thinking, feeling, and continuing a life of freedom.

how can being arrested for a suspended lisense be racial profiling? the black community should really chastise this man for this blatent attempt of unmitigated gall.
