  • Well what would YOU have done?

Yesterday, John Prescott, Deputy Prime Minister of the UK(second only to Tony Blair) was being led by police past protesters, when one of them threw an egg at him, at point blank range.

Mr Prescott stopped, rubbed his cheek, and planted a left hook on the offending protester that was worthy of Mike Tyson.

The incident, together with the ensuing brawl, was captured on camera and broadcast to the nation. (It was the funniest thing I've seen on TV for a long time!)

Anyway, the officer on the scene arrested the protester. But North Wales police have been criticised for:

    1. Allowing Mr Prescott to be led so close to protesters in the first place.

    2. Not arresting Mr Prescott! After all, the Deputy PM threw thge offending punch (although, admittedly, the egg came first).

My question is, should the officer have arrested the Deputy Prime Minister, even though he was supposed to be escorting him? And what officer would have DARED?!

Heh heh I saw a clip of this on the morning (un)news this morning. I thought he had a GREAT response!

Hell no he should not have been arrested. He was responding to an assault and battery against himself! My bet is the only folks who are calling for his arrest were the bunch of a--hole protesters.

Now, about the criticisim for allowing he and the protesters to get too close to each other - I was not there, so have no idea if there were any options or not. Perhaps things just didn't go the way they were planned as far as his path of travel was concerned.

If a police officer had punched a member of the public in the face ... on television... even if they had had an egg thrown at them..... I know who would be in deep doogy poo!!!!! and it would not have been the member of the public who had thrown an egg..

Prescott... lock the bullying, corrupt, two faced labour politician up and throw away the key!!!!!!!!!!!!!, the rest of his little club are no better...... what took the conservatives 13 years to get embroiled in ( I mean arrogance, sleaze and downright corruption)the new labour party has managed in 4 years.

I remember when John Major got egged

He just sort of smirked. It was a little creepy...

          colin,

Sorry to have to admit that I don't follow your politics all that much. My response is just to what I saw on TV this morning.

Frankly I think he should have followed up on that left jab a little better!
