Who is the idiots? Fox news? Here is the quote.""Upwards of 100 different rifles" use that ammunition, said ATF spokesman Jim Crandall. All kinds of rifles use a .223 caliber bullet, including guns used in sporting activities, military weapons, such as the M-16 rifle, and some "assault type of weapons," Crandall said."

Crandall says the M-16 is a military rifle, I have to agree. He did not say it wasn't an assault rifle but I don't see what the big problem is?
I know a lot about M-16's and was a weapons specialist in the Military.
I find no fault in the link.

'and other' should have been included after the M16 bit.

          Also....
          quote:
Kouri also said that the .223 caliber bullet holds more gunpowder and travels three times faster than the popular .22 caliber used in many handguns and rifles.
BULLETS don't hold powder...CASES hold powder.

Anyone NOT knowing better ASSUMES that these so-called experts DO know what they're talking about.

It's total incompetence on Mr. Kouri's and Fox's parts.

BTW...I've been a firearms instructor for 15 years. I DO find fault with the article.

I don't see anything wrong with the article, matter of fact, I think it's great.

The media are the ones that started all this crap about "assault weapons". Thanks largely to them, we have all kinds of weapons wrongly termed as assault weapons, we have asinine laws that outlaw bayonet lugs, flash suppressors, hi-cap mags, because their mere presence constitutes an assault weapon.

In effect, they are now reversing their previous BS and saying that an M-16 is NOT an assault weapon. Which only goes to prove that all of this is complete and utter BS, because anything I can hold in my trained little hands(including said hands)can be termed an assault weapon.

There are many persons that can f*** you up with nothing more than a rolled up newspaper or magazine, it's so effective it's one of the most recommended self-defense tips available. Almost every self-defense course includes it, and it's recommended by most police depts. when they issue self-defense tips. My "assault keyring" is very effective, and is also law enforcement recommended.

For years my dept and several others touted the use of "assault hairspray" to deter an attacker. Right now, I'm wearing an assault belt buckle with attached 42" belt for extra reach; assault boots with a steel toe for the blunt force assault; assault wedding band with faceted diamonds to rip and slash; aforementioned assault keyring to poke, slash, rake and gouge; an adjustable assault butane lighter for the crispy critter assault; and several other items that will go unmentioned because they are secret stealth-type things that only get employed if all else fails.
