My carrier is AT&T and the phone is from Panasonic. It's verrrrrry light weight and works good in Fairfax, where we live...
I used to have a Nokia 8260 and the calls would drop and I wanted to throw it out the window so many times but with this Panasonic phone, I can go into the bushes and make phone calls and still be heard.... =)

Cingular with various Nokia's. We're happy with the service. Since we have multiple phones, the free mobile to mobile works out real well.
I'll be getting a Nextel for work shortly.
If you've got a Nokia, check out Newegg.com for great prices on accessories.Leave a comment:

I currently have Cingular. Crappy phone, crappy service.
I used to have Worldcom -- great phone, great service. Bad billing -- I got the phone in November, got my first bill in July. Needless to say, it was a big *** bill. Had lots of billing problems, and I'm currently about to enter legal wrangling with them because they're *STILL* billing me (even though the phone has been shut off for over a year).Leave a comment:

NEXTEL user here. I have an i1000 plus and i'm very happy with the phone. I have had no dropped calls compared to my old Cingular wireless service. The conversations are crystal clear. The only thing negative about NEXTEL is their customer service. When I had a question about my phone I was given 3 different 800 numbers to call for what I thought was a simple question. On a 1 to 10 scale with 10 being the best I'll have to give NEXTEL an 8.Leave a comment:

I've used US Cellular and as long as you're in thier service area it worked great.
Ive had Altell for several years and works great but I've never really liked the small hand held phones. Being a Deputy Sheriff I work a large area, that being the case a small phone loses signal most of the time, so I opted for a bag phone, not very portable but I haven't found an area in the county where I couldn't get out.Leave a comment:

I have had sprint service for four years. I like it. Although, when I started, they didn't make you lock in for a year. Now they make you sign a year agreement. which is kinda lame. I'm not sure which providers dont make you sign one. I have great coverage. Free long distance and it works pretty much anywhere in the US. I pay 39.99 a month for 350 anytime minutes and 3500 night and weekend minutes. Its cool cause I only use my phone at night during off peak hours, so I can talk all night and never have to worry about extra charges.
Also, I had to replace a phone once and I was all bummed about having to spend so much on another phone and the lady gave me $50.00 credit towards a new phone for being a good customer.
I recommend figuring out when you will use the phone the most before you decide on a plan. Good Luck.Leave a comment:

AT&T .... just switched from a Nokia 8260 to a Sony T68I GSM network, internet, text messages, email, sync calendar and address book with PC, compose your own ring tones, COLOR screen, very small and lightweight... can send and receive pictures... (no I don't have the attached camera). Bought a little accessory keyboard, it's so cute... I like it a lot so far. Couldn't resist the color screen.... and the price.... with my special discount and rebate... $70.. without special discount $150. I have seen it advertised for free at Good Guys (don't know if that is a nationwide chain).
I've been pretty happy with At&t. A couple of times I considered switching but I didn't want to change my phone number. I use my cell phone for most calls, almost nobody has my actual landline phone number.Leave a comment:

I like the Nokia 5165 because it is so durable. I've dropped mine and the city's phone I don't know how many times. Everytime I pick it up, it still works like a charm.
I like its size. Its small enough to slip into my back pocket, but its big enough that I don't feel like I'm using a Barbie phone.
What I really like is it is text message capable and it is actually pretty easy to knock out a text message on.
Cingular has been on a big tower building push around the Dallas area. Everywhere I go, I almost always have maximum signal. They started a minute rollover program which I really like. I can roll my unused minutes to the next month. I can carry a maximum of 12 monthes " rolled " minutes.

We just left Cingular for Nextel. Cingular's the Mac Daddy around here. Nextel will work fine and all of a sudden you just lose the signal. We've got a pair of Motorola i1000 plus which is a decent phone, but just a little bulky.
When we had Cingular, I had the Nokia 5165 (that's what my work phone is, too) and my wife had the little baby Nokia. I didn't want to get rid of Nokia because of the car kit. It's because of that one item that I would suggest the Nokia over anything else.
It was a trade off with the switch, but I'm happy with Nextel. I just need to sit down and learn how to operate the damn phone...it comes with a HUGE instruction manual. I'm probably only using 20% of its capabilities.Leave a comment:

I have a Star Tac with Verizon service. I LOVE the phone.
Verizon is "okay" but I've had billing problems with them I'm not comfortable with. Of course they always overcharged me, and not the other way around.
I keep them for their coverage (most complete in the Carolinas, to the best of my knowledge) and because I'm locked in a plan. Some people swear by Alltel or Nextel, but I know of "holes" in their areas that would affect me or my wife as she travels, and that's a "NO-GO."Leave a comment:

My cell phone is OLD, but i like it fine. it's a NEC, and big compared to the little teeny ones they have now. i always see people trying to hear on them tho, and i never have a problem hearing anyone on mine. i have Cingular Wireless for my plan. i get the basic, very cheap per month, and a Union discount. i dont make alot of phone calls on it.Leave a comment:
