  • Kaboom!

22,500 tons of steel, 70 miles of reinforced concrete and 600,000 square feet of masonry were brought down by 1,400 pounds of explosives in 37 seconds.....

Riverfront Stadium (commercially known as Cinergy Field), home of the Cincinnati Reds, was imploded today to make room for the new stadium to be called the Great American Ballpark.

I was up at 4:00am this morning and was on the riverbanks by 5:30am to watch this momentous event. OK.. so I could really care less but my brother wanted me to get him some pics so what's a sister for?

Here's the link to see some of the pics.. We waited 2.5hrs and it was imploded in 37 seconds. Oh well, we still had fun

Nice pics. The spot where it was will never look the same. I still miss seeing County Stadium everytime I go to Milwaukee.

      Rachel,

Did you use a filter or do something to the 'morning light' picture to enhance the colors? it is truly awesome !!

Just curious. (not being a morning person, I don't know what morning light looks like... lol... might just have to get up early one day if it's really that beautiful!!!)

Have you ever noticed? Anybody going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac.

No, I was using the digicam and it is pretty limited in accessories. And believe it or not, I only adjusted the contrast in Photoshop.

The morning light was truly beautiful.. I now know how Monet was feeling when he felt he had to capture the rays of light at all times of the day. The colors in the morning light picture only lasted 10-15 minutes at best before it brightened into the light you see in the other pics.
