It has been reported that the first cloned baby has just been born. How do you think that will affect policing in the future?

I believe that it will be a nightmare for policing in the future. Imagine a woman decides to clone herself and produces a baby girl. That girl grows up and decides to clone herself and has twins. One of the family decides to murder another member of the family. Fingerprints are left at the scene. DNA is left at the scene. Unless you have a witness, who do you suspect? As I see it, each person would have the same DNA and the same fingerprints.

Okay Artie.. thats just We todd it. OKAY.. Sofa King We Todd IT!

if people cloned themselves just to plan a murder... then I say Let em get away with it. Years of waiting for someone to grow up just to have another child to have another (all clones) just to murder someone.. I say whoever the poor bastard was, he probably deserved it.

Oh... Oh... I know you di-int!

OK...I'd like one of each of the following BABES cloned, please:

          Marg Helgenberger
          Charlize Theron
          Ashley Judd
          Courtney Cox
          Madchen Amick

          No particular order. -

I was talking to a family friend who is about to become a doctor about this whole thing last night. He was telling me that it was a private company and until anything is published in a major scientific journal, he won't believe it. He says that it's too easy for all this media hype to make something out of nothing.

Also, he was saying that there are roughly 30,000 different combinations for amino acid combinations in our genes. This would mean, that theoretically, hundreds and hundreds of years from now, there will be somebody who looks and acts exactly like you.

I personally think that cloning is playing God. However, I do support the continued research of stem cells, as I feel that that is the future in solving man's medical problems.

I believe that the fingerprints would be different. At least that is the way it works with identical twins who share the same genetic code but have different fingerprints.

No, you misunderstood me, that was merely an example of what could happen. It was not to imply that someone planned the murder from the start. Most murders, I believe, are spontaneous.

Cloning, from my understanding, is creating an identical from the original. It is like making a carbon copy. So, if it is true that this child has been cloned, it will be interesting to see if her fingerprints are the same as her mothers.

But if you look at the kitten that they cloned last year, she developed different fur coloring. It's not, as I understand it, as exact as a "carbon" copy (altho its possible a clone of an animal would develop differently from that of a human in terms of closeness to the genetic original).

I didn't see that report about the cat. What mad man (or woman) would want to create more cats??????

You stole my comment. I loved her highlights. They were...um....colorful. Between her and Janet Reno, I am almost afraid to take a trip to Florida.

A science-minded soul, hoping to double his production, flew to Scotland, had himself cloned, and brought back his second self only to learn that the sorry sequel would utter nothing but vile profanity.

Fearing ruin, the original lured his Lascivious Lookalike up a mountain, pushed him off a cliff, and went back down the trail in deep relief. But witnesses saw it all.

Police charged the fellow with ... making an obscene clone fall.

Sorry... It was either that comment or the one in which I thought she was cloned from Tammy Fay Baker. [Eek!]
