  • School sports v Families....a rant

Bear with me. This is one of my pet peeves:

I've coached a few years and STILL don't understand what motivates coaches to schedule games during holidays. Holidays, when traditionally, FAMILIES spend time TOGETHER....not spent taking kids to practice or sticking them on a bus to an away game.

Don't coaches realize that the holidays are the ONLY times some families get to visit relatives, etc? Perhaps it is as I suspect....they just don't care anymore. The almighty $1 wins out.

    Rant off.

My daughter had basketball practice once during school vacation and that was this morning. Granted, she's not playing games yet (she's only 8).

What I don't get is how some parents can get so wrapped up in school sports that fights happen between other parents and coaches in front of their own children. That's even more unacceptable than scheduling a game during the holidays.
