I've live in Korea, and yes, I've live in South Dakota. I'd take Korea anyday of the week over SD. Have fun.

South Dakota, well it is actually state in the union. So there is some solid ground, air, possibly trees. There are reports of humans inhabiting S.D., although I don't know if Tom Daschle counts.

- Mount Rushmore
- Crazy Horse Memorial
- Badlands
- Mitchell Corn Palace
- Wall Drug (I know where the hell it is)
- Great pheasant hunting

And, best of all

- It's not North Dakota

This should be interesting, I have not seen the place yet but I hope it's not as horrible as everyone's telling me. One of my friends here says it looks like "Hoth" from the Empire Strikes Back in the wintertime. I guess I'll bring a book...

Hey Will,

I went through 17 states on my way from Oregon to Kentucky, and South Dakota was my favorite. I saw two National Parks, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wall Drug, and of course, Sturgis. If I was active I'd probably try to get stationed up there.

I have been to South Dakota a few times and think it makes a great vacation spot.

I liked Mount Rushmore, Deadwood, Crazy Horse Memorial and just driving around that area. Also, if you ever watch reruns of Little House on the Prairie one of the homes of the Ingalls family is in DeSmet.

Aaarrgghh... I have in laws that live out there!! (hope they stay). They used to live in Box Elder right next to the base but moved to Rapid City.
I visited that base... On those HOT summer days you better hope that you don't get assigned guard duty standing on the fuselage of one of the B-52's.
Then again that may be better than listening to the locals say.. "Ya'll wanna go t'da mall?".
