I have off. I go back New Years Day at 1800. New Years Eve is my birthday, so I am thankful to have it off.

I wasn't scheduled to work, but I talked the chief into giving me a 4-hour traffic detail from 2300-0300. If I'm lucky I should be able to pull at least a couple of drunks off the road.

I got a result. 10am-6pm on the eve, and I got 1st Jan off as the Sgt wanted volunteers to take the day off to save a bit of money, Whoopee . Its the first time I'm getting to celebrate the new year in about 9 years.

I get the unfortunate pleasure of working over from evenings to deep nights New Years Eve. What really stinks, is I'll be one of only two breath test opereators from my department working.

I'm working New Years. Nothing like time and a half to play with the drunks!

                          0500-1300 New Years Day.

When the roster was put up last week, one of the guys says "So I HAVE to work NYD, boss?"

"Damn right you do" he replies.

"Thats ok, Ill just come straight from the pub then"

Im not sure whether to laugh or frown.

1930-0730 on patrol. I wish I was assigned to the foot detail downtown where we work with the city PD; it's always fun.

I didn't put in for a V-day because I figured they would deny time off. Then the final roster was posted and there were enough assigned that just about everyone who had put in for the night off got it.
