  • Has it ever happened to you?

Years back when I was working for the DMV I was assigned to a team that went to PD's region and worked with them doing vehicle spot checks.

So, here we are pulling over vehicles and having a good ol' time enforcing the law. As I approached this one vehicle I noticed that the PD guys were kind of staying back somewhat and some had smirks on and were giggling. I completed the business at hand and sent the vehicle on its way.... Walking back to the cruiser a PD guy says:

"Did you write him a ticket?"

    me- "Yeah"

them- They all busted out laughing.

me- "What the hell is so funny?"

    them- "did he say anything?"

    me- "No, why?"

them- (with tears in their eyes) "That was our police commisioner!!".....

Apparently, this commish thought he was "exempt" MV laws & regs.

There was a time as I was training to be a copper where I saw an accident happen, car vs. motorcycle. The motorcycle rider was seriously injured; I radioed PD for help on my CB, and covered the injured rider with a blanket I kept in my car. I was giving orders left and right for rubberneckers to stay back, and not to move her, etc., until the PD and a State Trooper arrived on the scene, and took over.

The next day I found out that 2 of those people I was ordering around was that gal's parents. Her Dad was a Paramedic, and ran the local ambulance service, and her Mom was a Registered Nurse!

Well, let's see. As a new hire (lateral transfer) into a community I wrote a muni court judge for speeding, (not knowing who he was.) I wrote my police chief's daughter a couple of times for riding her ATV right down town, and I arrested a mayor's son for arson.

      Yeah, it happens.

Then they should have told you that and produced the proper identifcation. Did they expect you to be a psychic or something?

When I was in the military I pulled the base commanders daughter over and ended up taking her into custody for failure to properly identify herself. When I got to the PMO I was told by the desk sargeant of who she was and that I should let her go. At this she piped up and said "yeah, you do not know who your dealing with!!" Since this irritated me I made the phone call to the base commanders office and told them that he needed to come down and sign for his "supposedly" daughter. I can tell you that he was not happy and the PM was not happy, but my point was across and after signing for his daughter we never had a problem with her after that.

My lips are sealed......well, it did sort of involve drugs, sex, theft, perjury, conspiracy and downright naughtiness!

(It wasn't the governor's fault-you can't always help who your relatives are.)

But that's all you're getting out of me!
