      POP...that's the usual reply.

      Can't stand COKE..
      Give me PEPSI.

My brother in law is from out East and we joke that he calls it soda. I think it's regional.

Y'know, a few years back, a guy I worked with was from Ohio. And one night, he said, "hey, you want a pop?"

              And I said, "huh?"

And he repeated the question. And this went on for a few minutes until I finally said, "I've got a perfectly good father already, thank you!"

And he gave me the oddest look, motioned to the soda cooler, and said, "no, not a pop -- a pop!"

You folks who call it 'pop' need to move out of the stone age

Calling it "soda" sounds so grandmotherly though!

Here's an interesting link showing the different regional dialects..

would you prefer a "refreshing carbonated soft drink" instead??

Why, gee Nick, how very PC of you.

                      No, I'd prefer 'soda', thanks.

well, where I grew up EVERYTHING was coke until you ordered it.

Like, "After the movies we'll go for a coke." Then you ordered rootbeer, orange, whatever.

                        At home it was Tonic.

                        Then I moved to Ohio.

I still refuse to say pop.

Up heah it's soda. Tonic's the stuff you have gin with. Coke is with a capital C and now comes in Diet Vanilla (yum)

Coke(whether its a Coke or not)
                              Soda
                              Pop
                              Sody
                              Soda Pop
