Not sure if this has been posted here yet - I've been busy latey and not much time to keep updated as to what is happening on o.com
On 03/17/03, Poplar Bluff, Missouri Police Officer Steven McCane, a member
of FOP Lodge #48, received a radio assignment of a fire at his own residence.
P.O. McCane, other officers and firefighters arrived to find the home
engulfed in flames. Worse than the tragedy of finding your own home in
flames, was the fate of the occupants, his family. Found near the back door
of the residence were the bodies of his wife Ginger, 30, and their daughter
Kaylyn, 4. Investigators have tied the cause of the fire to a faulty
electrical heater.
The family had no insurance on the home or the lives of Ginger and Kaylyn.
The Missouri State FOP will be establishing a trust fund to assist with
funeral costs and the loss of Officer McCane's home and belongings. That
information will be posted tomorrow, March 19, 2003 on the web site of the
State FOP, www.mofop.org. When you hit your knees tonight I'd ask that you
remember these folks in your prayers.
The Missouri State FOP has established a Trust Fund to assist FOP Brother
Steve McCane after the horrible tragedy he has endured. To assist with
funeral expenses and replacement of some of Officer McCane's belongings,
please send your donation to:
Missouri State FOP
715 Jefferson St.
Jefferson City, MO 65101
attn: McCane Memorial Fund

Please make all checks payable to the McCane Memorial Fund. Certainly this
is a time for all brothers and sisters of this organization to pull together.
