They ("authorities") tried for 30 mins to talk the guy down and he read an anti war statement then jumped.

It's been fun around here (San Francisco) today, people vomiting for peace, naked men on the streets, vans of cops ready to break up the crowds... I watched all this from the safety of my office.

I don't laugh at people that do stupid things like this. I am in awe of how common sense can be overcome by such stupidity. The Golden Gate Bridge is a very tall structure. Even the trained and experienced people that built it fell off of it.

There are much better ways to express your disapproval than doing inherently dangerous things.

I agree with Nickg. I have no sympathy for people who do totally ridiculous things and things they know can/will kill them. The same thing goes for people who smoke 2 packs a day and then get lung cancer. Do I feel sorry for them? Nope. Or the person who leaves a bar drunk, gets behind the wheel and ends up paralyzed. Do I feel sorry then? Not at all. When you do ignorant things, expect to suffer the consequences, but don't expect sympathy.

I wonder if these people think they will stop the war by protesting. It never worked before and it won't work now.

Its unfortunate that all of the Anti-War protesters didnt jump off the bridge. I would gladly do traffic control for that.

I never questioned the stupidity of what he did. I thought it was very bad judgement.

My coments wereabout adults finding it funny that another American who was protesting on a bridge, and had an opposing view, was laughed at for his stupidity. Everyone wasn't born as smart as we cops!

No, I didn't think it was funny that the young college girl was killed by a bulldozer. I thought it was tragic that she was so misguided that she would go to Palestine and actually believe she could help. I doubt from what I read that she was there to protect a terrorist. Maybe she was, but I doubt it.
