  • I lost a friend last night....

I dropped by Dispatch before going '10-8' this AM, only to find out a kid I had in school several years ago...and a friend....had been killed in an auto accident the night before.

I had this kid as a student when I was the Director of my county's alternative school, 7-8 years ago. He was your basic, no frills 'country boy' that 'loved to fight'. I managed to convince him to enlist in the US Army. He was part of the only 'drop-qualified' field artillery unit in the US Army, and was promptly shipped to Korea.

He was currently home, awaiting new orders. He and his wife and newborn son were awaiting the final paperwork to begin a new duty assignment in Hawaii.

    Life isn't fair....... [Frown]

      I'm very sorry...

loss is *always* loss, but at this time of year is more poignant.

my first thought, reading about you having him in school, was that he had many *more* years than he might have if you hand't been there to mentor him. Hold on to the good that you did...

      (((hugs))) and prayers...

        Shooter, that is sad

Sounds like you helped someone to turn their life around.
