  • A little excitement downtown....

It is funny reading stories and seeing how reporters sometimes pull things outta their you know what. This is actually a good story. But we don't carry 9mm's. Haven't for 7-8 years. I think some people refer to any black semi-auto as a 9mm.

Could have gone real ugly but some nice work by all involved. Although I still am surprised how quickly they must have been able to get out of the wagon. Fortunately, our PD wagons are solid vans with metal compartments inside.

Holy $#!* ! I couldn't believe this when I read it: "The man managed to fire about five shots from Busic's gun before another person, described by police as a worker at a Downtown restaurant, helped the officer subdue the man. "I wouldn't recommend that people do that," said Sgt. Russell Burns, an IPD spokesman."

WTF! WHY NOT!? This guy had taken a weapon from a police officer, started shooting it and they expect the citizenry to stand by and watch an officer and a suspect in a life and death struggle? I think the citizen ought to get a friggin' medal!

It's all about perceived liability. For God's sake don't praise the civilian and thank him, might be an endorsement, then if another civilian does it and gets hurt, they might sue us based on our previous "endorsement", or so the "logic" may seem to be.
