    A REAL 3rd rail question.....

HAVE been prowling the web for a long time and regularly visit a lot of different firearms boards.

One of the great ongoing perceptions is about police officers and firearms confiscation.
a majority of gun owners online appear to believe that officers would follow orders to search and seize regardless of the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment

    SO,
IF, a law was passed, or a presidential Executive Order was enacted for the sake of "national security" that prohibited the possession of all firearms by non-military/police personnel. Further for the purpose of enacting the requirements of fulfilling the tennante of the law all local agencies are deemed to have Federal authority to act on this law. the Feds come to your department with a list of gun owners made off of the 4473 forms, they want your dept to visit and confiscate their firearms.....

    will you
    or
    won't you

go door to door for the firearms

and if you refuse you may be fired for refusing an order.

further there is a growing activism online at least that indicates in that situation, the normally law abiding individual WILL resist your attempt to disarm him and his family, up to and including deadly force.(you can see this stream regularly on just about any firearms board)

to what limit are you or aren't you going to go to?

told you it was a 3rd rail topic.

I've answered this before under the 'Civil Rights' section of this board. But to answer your question:

NO...NO...NO!!! I will NEVER abide by ANY order to confiscate weapons from LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS.....and as a priviate individual, I would RESIST any attempt to disarm ME.

I would not ever seize weapons from law abiding citizens, regardless!

I wouldn't have to worry about getting canned either, my Chief wouldn't go for it either.

I think some police would follow those orders, but only young brainwashed ones. I think most would not. However, that's not ever going to happen. It's not the way the government does things. Sure, if they want to stop some freak somewhere from dealing in machine guns and pornography, they'll storm 'the compound' where they are at and lead will fly and they'll take the guns.

What will happen is the government will try to incrementally take out guns just like they are doing now. More and more laws will be passed so that eventually most people won;t be able to get a gun, and those that have them will be in possession of prohibited weapons. Each person will be caught sooner ot later if they don;t hand them over, and eventually, they'll mostly all be gone.

Now that being said, that kind of talk is why I no longer like cruising those kinds of boards very much. They all say the same thing about cops kicking in your door and taking the guns and having a shootout. I think that's mostly crap. Some people would do it, most wouldn't.

What I have posted in response to some of the drivel is that if more of our 'patriots' would be more open to police, and more supportive of police, showing them they are good guys and not ticket hungry donut sucking thugs, that question about 'What are you gonna do when they come for your guns' would never be asked.

            Just my opinion.

Oh, and if I could, I would fight for mine. But I would not commit suicide by cop.

WEll I would fight to keep my guns but like said before I will have a shoot out with the police if they are coming to get mine. I am not into shooting people I view as my brothers. IF it was not the cops coming to get mine I would defend to my death. Let them wear a vest I know a vest will not stop my high powered rifle rounds.

Goodness...it appears that there are some here that actually have drawn some sort of line about what laws they would obey. Shocking

snoppy that is your personal choice and if you choose to not own a gun then that is your right and we will not think any higher or lower of you for making your own choice. I went a few years without owning a gun and I was ok with that. I am also one who enjoys my freedoms and have fought to maintain those same freedoms. I choose to be a gun owner just like you choose to be a nongun owner it is nice to be able to live in a country where we do have this type of freedoms to chose what we do or do not want to do and it that fact that will keep America strong and free.

I would refuse, but I wouldnt resist either, aint no way I'm gonna take up arms against a fellow officer doing his job, even if I dont agree with it. Now if the time ever comes for the masses to hand over their guns to the government you can bet your *** that I will have relocated farther south, like Mexico!

SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT, ADDED BY INV. DAVE *****, 12-14-2001

I have interviewed all the residents along victim’s street, and several stated to me that they did in fact see a blue pickup-type truck, which they did not recognize, acting suspiciously in the area on the day of the theft. This vehicle stood out so much, two of them actually made a mental note of its description. One neighbor, Mr. Flori Dacop, who works niteshift, stated that he saw this vehicle in Mr. Fastuan’s driveway, a strange looking WM peeping in windows at the Fastjuan residence.

Mr. Dacop described the subject as a WM, approximately 600/230, wearing dark blue work clothes (similar to a mechanic), with medium brown hair.

All descriptions of the truck match; all witnesses describe it as a long bed, dark blue Chevy or GMC pickup. It had a magnetic or glue-on type door sign on both doors that appeared to say “Sullivan’s Transmission Repair-Dallas, Texas.”

Two witnesses, leaving for work, got behind this vehicle, and said it had three bumper stickers on it: 1) "They can have my gun when they pry my cold dead fingers off it”, 2) "My wife-yes, my dog-maybe, my gun-NEVER”, and 3) "Gay and damn proud.” The personalized plate was (Texas) MIKISGAY.

I have contacted authorities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area; investigation is continuing.

Sullivan plays his games, we play ours.

Regardless of all the opinions and statements that police are "professional" or "impersonal" or "objective", they are still PEOPLE with their own set of core beliefs and values. Some officers are hard on DUIs, others chase after domestics and some dig for drug offenses. If there is a lway being broken, there is always discretion in if they choose to "see" it or not. Would you prefer it if EVERYONE got a ticket on traffic stops? Or how about when you crossed the street in the middle? Those are all illegal, but minor offenses in the grand scheme of things. The Constitution is the ultimate law. Any law passed must be constitutional, otherwise I couldn't in good faith or conscience enforce such a law. If it is amended to eliminate the second amendment, then that's a different story although I would still have some qualms about it.
