  • Video Games Too Addicting??

Okay, video games are one of my favorite pastimes, mostly in the winter when its so dang cold. Recently I purchased Dark Cloud 2 which is a role playing type game, it reminds me of Zelda if any of you have played Zelda. This game seems to be extremly addicting as you have millions of things to do including fishing, building your own environments and cities, and the overall building up of weapons and characters. This game is excellent but guess what its too dang addicting.

Are video games too addicting? I think that they can be, Look at that everquest game, ppl are basing their entire life on this game which to me is insane. There are underground gangs in this gang they go around and kill other players and steal there things. The on-line aspect of it makes it only more addicting. This one kid killed himself over a stupid game.

I love video games, espically sports games like Madden, NHL, College Basketball and you have to love Grand Theft Auto(even if it's kind ironic that all my buddies who are in law enforcement or officers like driving around and killing cops.) .
I guess video games are a way to escape reality and for me its a way to get some stress off my back.

Anyways if your a gamer what games do you play? Also any old school games or anything else?

Some of my current favorites are Madden 03(mostly online but it's hard to win online), Metal Gear Solid, Max Payne, GTA Vice City, NHL 2003, Tony Hawk 4, Tiger Woods, Dark Cloud 2, NCAA 2003, those are just some of them.

My brother is a huge gamer. Right now he is playing Warcraft 3. That is one of his favorite games. My brother has been addicted to video games ever since I can remember. That is all he does. He has no friends -- just video games allll the time. If he isn't playing video games he is watching the video game channel on TV. I think it's called G4 or something. If he isn't doing that he is listening to the Warcraft soundtrack in his CD player. He is addicted. He is going to school right now to design video games -- I couldn't have thought of a more perfect career.

I'm currently hooked on Civilization 3. I had 2 and it was great. I wasn't sure it would be worth it to get 3, but it definetely is. Much more realistic.

I gotta throw in a vote for America's Army. Great game to play, and fairly addicting also. And the best part about the game is that it is FREE!!!!!!!!

If anyone else on the board plays, my in-game name is Shooter1922{X}. I play bridge mostly and a few rounds of MP every once in a while. And you can find me on HomeLan servers.

Around here there is -- It is heaven for every gamer. They give reviews and all kinds of stuff for video games.

Actually I must admit that I am hooked to the First Class Solitaire on AOHell (AOL) The only reason I play this is because supposedly you can win a jackpot of actual money if you clear the deck. If you clear the deck you get to spin the reel. They also have a bunch of word games that I like to play -- I know, no bang bang shoot 'em up games for moi. Too confusing and too gruesome. lol

I remember when I was younger I use to play Mario Bros. and Tetris. I played that dang Tetris game so much that I started seeing those shapes floating in the air when I would walk around. Oh Gawd and that Bubble Bobble game; Mega Man and Zelda -- Zelda was cool. I use to like Resident Evil but now I don't really play anything unless it's free.

Ghost Recon has been the cause of more "okay class, we're gonna watch a movie" than I could possibly count.

Well, not really, but you get the idea. The Rainbow series is good too, and Sim City 3 had me playing with those little sims long into the night.

So yes, video games are addicting...but anyone who tries to regulate them better beware!

I'm not a regular gamer, but I have been addicted to a few in recent years:

                            Civilization II & III

Age of Kings (until I made the mistake of loaning it to my brother-in-law -- I haven't seen it since! But at least I can take consolation in the fact that now he is addicted )

Deux Ex -- Boy, was I hooked on this one! Great game. I can't wait for the sequel to come out.

Baldur's Gate -- really wish they'd make more RPG's like this one

Tomb Raider (the first few releases)

Some not so recent games that I was addicted to: Myst & Doom.

I've played a few others recently, but the above were the only ones that kept me up into the wee hours of the morning and left me wanting more when I was done.

I got a PS2 for Christmas this year. The only games I've played are NASCAR Thunder 2003, NFL Gameday '03 and NBA Hoopz.

I'm working on a season on Gameday and I've already raced 4 seasons on NASCAR. Next comes the career (20 consecutive seasons and includes sponsorship deals, R&D, crew acquisitions, etc.). I'm working hard to unlock all of the plates right now, though.

When I played my PS1 more, I got hooked on GT2 and Driver.

Next month is the release of Splinter Cell for PS2. CAN'T WAIT!!!

What can anybody offer on the following games:
                              Spiderman
                              Desert Storm
                              Ghost Recon
                              SOCOM
                              Soldier of Fortune
                              Silent Scope

They look cool, but geeze, 40-50 bucks is a bit much if you're not sure about it. I used to rent from Bluckbuster, but the game manuals were always missing, so I've ditched that option.
