easy : answer, say hold on. place reciever on desk. continue to watch tv/clean guns/hug kids

hard: repeat the last word of each sentance they ask (ie: would you like to try pie? "pie?!?!")

difficult: question them on personal life
    Luke 3:14
Then some soldiers asked him [Jesus], "And what should we do?" He replied, "Don't extort money and don't accuse people falsely–be content with your pay."

      Mitzi,

President Bush has signed a bill to develop a national "No Call" list to prohibit telemarketers from contacting you if you have signed on. Each offense is punishable by up to $11,000 fine per incident. Now if our congress can vote to pass it we can get some peace and quiet during dinner.

I usually tell them that the person they called is dead, in jail, or was killed using their product. This usually results in their hanging up and never calling again.

Get rid of your home phone! I got rid of mine and now use my cell phone exclusively. I have only gotten one solicitation call in four years, and that was from the cable tv company--and I was able to just call them and opt-out. I pay AT&T Wirless $100 a month for unlimited local and long distance calling (no daytime/nighttime restriction) and i couldnt be happier. If I ever do get a regular line again, it will be for a dedicated fax machine with the ringer off.

Sometimes I am wound a bit too tight, and if I got all these calls from solicitors, I would tear the damn phone out of the wall. Why torture yourself?

LMAO! Oh gosh, how fun would that be? I would hate to be the telemarketers -- imagine the stories they must come home with. HAHAHA! So and So is dead. *click* That just makes me laugh!!

Actually what I usually tell my telemarketer friends is this: "Excuse me, can you please put me on your 'do not call list'." That usually takes care of them and they are fined if they call again but you would have to report it, of course.

One of the funniest times I remember with these people is my ex says "Oh can you hold on a second........RIIPPPPP...."yep, he farted on the phone to that poor woman. OH my -- that was vulgar but let me tell you, I was rollin' on the floor laughin' so hard; tears streaming down my face.

          Ok...so I'm easily amused.

            Mitzi:

The "can you hold on" method Spaz mentioned works great. Imagine the monetary dilemna that would be created for these companies if every one did that.

            Spaz:

That "repeat the last word" approach sounds hillarious! I can't wait to try that one!

I get calls all day. I screen them with my answering machine a they usualy come up "unavailable". But I will have to do something soon because they are increasing. I have now received 11 today. It so frustrating!

I got a telezapper, which seems to work well if they are calling from a computer. If the call is from a credit card company or someone you have given your number to it doesn't work.

My girlfriend likes to say, "Oh my God! I'm so glad you called. I had such a bad day today. Let me tell you about it." She then launches into some strange and long-winded story. The telephone sales person inevitably hangs up on her.

Wisconsin has a state no-call list and it works wonders. I have only gotten one call since joining the list, and that was from a breast cancer research group. (Non-profit groups are exempt from the list.)

What AA mentioned is the way to go. Tell them "Please place me on your do-not-call list." They will say, "Please understand that it make take up to 15 days to process your request, in that time you may receive additional calls." Once you start requesting that, you will receive next to no more calls.

It's also amazing how they call my house. My number is unlisted by 411 and the phone book, and these yoohoo's still get my number. Don't get me wrong, I know they all buy phone lists off each other, but DANG!!!....

So does Indiana. Contact your attorney general and see if one is in the works where you are. It is awesome.

I went from getting 12+ a week, to not even half that a year.

As soon as I can tell it is a telemarketeer, I tell them I am on the no-call list and hang up. Beforehand, I used to just hang up. Hate them. After the war on terrorism is won, we need to attack all U.S. based telemarketing centers.

Anonymous call rejection has cut my sales calls down to almost none. If for some reason one slips by, I just don't answer the phone the next time the number shows up on my caller ID. After about the second or third time, they don't call.

I look at it this way, there is absolutely nothing that says I have to answer home phone. A ringing phone doesn't bother me. It will stop.

I have to check the caller ID incase my son needs me. It's a pain to get up 11 times to do that. Just today, I have received 7 calls from solicitors.
