  • Any Hockey Fans??

Is there any big time hockey fans around??

I went to see the Red Wings play on friday night at the Joe. I usually try to go to a few games a year but hockey fans in Detroit are crazy and tickets are hard to come by these days. Unless your rich but I'm a poor college student. . Anyways the game was a blowout 7-2. They played a western confrence foe the Blues.

Anyways who are your teams you root for??

I had a trend going in high school that I would buy a hockey jersey of the stanley cup champion of that year and then some day eventually put them in my basement and have a nice little sports den. I have jerseys from Colorado, Detroit, Dallas, New Jersey and well guess no one else has won since I've starting collecting them.

I also stopped into hockeytown cafe on sat. and bought a t-shirt with all the orginal six NHL teams logo on it.

I also enjoy college hockey it seems to be only big on the east coast and midwest. Michigan State is my team. They are doing fair this year but are going through losing a legendary coach and have some young players this year.

I really hope that the NHL can get through all this crap with the bankruptcy of some franchises and gain some momentum instead of losing it. I really hope that the NBA doesnt get big again. . I can't really get into the NBA right now because it seems to be more about style and ego instead of great basketball. For great b-ball I stick to high school and college. GO Spartans!!

Well there ya go if we got any hockey fans then I'd love to talk hockey.

    Future-
My wife is a big-time hockey fan and she's got me watching now. She likes the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Plus, she plays with an all-female team as a goalie. She's going to be starting this Spring in a Men's League as part of a PSP team.

I used to play hockey as a kid and still enjoy watching games from time to time. Its probably my favorite team sport, but I can't really say I'm a big "fan" since I don't really follow it.

No offence to the American hockey fans out there, but I'm very happy that we seem to have a decent chance of an all Canadian Stanley Cup final this year! Vancouver, Ottawa and now the Owen Nolan improved Toronto Maple Leafs all have a good chance. Before anyone makes a smart-*** comment, yes I know the captains of all three of those teams are Swedes!

Future, I love hockey too and a am big Wings fan. That St. Louis game was incredible. But then last night's whipping by the Ducks was just as incredible. Makes you wonder what happened between those two games.

I'm going to see the Wings play Colorado this Saturday (only game I'll see at the Joe this year), so hopefully the momentum will have swung back toward the Wings by then. I'm another hour farther east from Detroit than you are, so I sure don't want to drive across the state to see the Wings lose! It should be a good game.

            Go Blue! [Wink]

              Avg. Joe,

Let me see are you invinting me??

Anyways I probably saw one of the craziest games last year at the Joe. I saw Game 7 of the Detroit vs Colorado Series. I was anticipating a great game but I saw a butt whooping of the great Patrick Roy. Probably one of the happiest Detroit crowds I have ever seen in my lifetime besides winning back to back cups, and the sad thing is my 2nd favorite team is the Avs which is only because of the great recuriting they seem to do and the greats they have had since the Nordiques days. Sakic, Forsberg, Drury, Deadmarsh. I hated Lemixux(sp??) though he was a piece of trash.

Anyways have a good time and try to go to hockeytown before the game cause its a great time. Too bad you need to get there about the time it opens to actually get a seat there.

Oh ya and to KL c'mon a candian team winning a cup thats sounding a little akward. I mean when was was the last time they won a cup the 80's??
If anyone I hope the maple leafs get there. I don't know the Flyers made a huge move tonight with Amonte there now, so the East could get interesting come play off time. This year I don't think one team is dominating so the playoffs should be full of excitment. Also look out for Dallas , Barnes could be a key player in the playoffs.

Wow thats alot of hockey. Better get going.

Sorry Future Enforcement, the Habs won in 1993. That's still too long. I prefer to think about Salt Lake City a year ago!
