Poll on Web Mail Domains

We'll be offering web mail on the site in a few months and would like some input on domain preference.

We're unsure about offering officer.com specific email for a few technical reasons, but thats not totally ruled out just yet. It is our priority to offer Officer.com if at all possible. Of course we suspect thats your and our #1 choice, but if its not available to do, what domain would be your second choice as a user of the site?

I checked out the alternatives to officer.com and there is nothing there that I would like to use as an email address.

officer.com is my 1st and only preference.

It would be nice to have e-mail from our favorite website, BUT I do wonder what the potential for abuse would be. People fall for that Nigerian bank scam, don't they?

As much as it pains me to agree with John Kelly, I have to with this. If I'm going to use it at all, it will be officer.com. Otherwise, forget it.

FWIW, I have a copmail account. It has been abused so much with spam and virus, that I don't even bother to check it any more.

I hope that if we ever do get webmail associated with this site, that it will be a little more problem free than copmail is.

I have to agree with Don and JohnKelly; none of the domains (aside from officer.com) are even remotely desirable for any reason whatsoever.

Hope y'all didn't pay more than about $8 for them...

Just to make it clear what I was saying, I was just saying that mail FROM an address reading [email protected] can lead to abuse. People posing as cops online are becoming a problem, and unrestricted access to accounts might lead to some hassles unless there was very strict "policing" (bad pun, I know) of the whole thing.

That said, like I mentioned before, I'd love to be [email protected], but not if it made it easier for some butthead to start some trouble.

This is exactly our main concern. Some of the other domains make it a little less obvious and reduce that happening, than someone using "[email protected]" ... so we'll really have to sit down when we determine how to manage (fax, phone or otherwise) access to the restricted area and maybe only those folks get @officer.com email or perhaps there is some other way. We're certainly open to suggestions here.

As I've stated in the RA here, we will be exceptionally strict on who has access to the RA areas, so we will carefully plan how to ensure the process for approving is streamlined.

While it looks like I may not qualify for an email account the other names are lame.
