  • Got a letter today from an attorney

This scum says I have ten days to pay a 125 dollar late property tax or they will sell my house to the highest bidder, for the 125.00. Someone, in my opinion, who would actually do this, should be executed.

    Mike,

Pay that dude! Then, take it to court. Paying it is not saying you agree that is's legal, but it stops any action the attorney has waiting.

Take it to court, you'll get the money back.

What an *******. If it's that big a deal to them, I'll send you the $125, or bid on it myself and sell it back to you for a buck. Give me a break. It probably costs more than that to send it through whatever branch of the Gov't it went through.

Mike I think the above posts said it all.

But NOW I can sure see why you want to move somewhere else.

According to the tax office we do owe 125.00. When we paid it, we paid what they said we owed, but incompetance in government runs high, I'm sure. It's the first time this has happened to us.

I called this pos lawyer, explained this and told them we would pay it, and then I told them that the day they take my house for 125.00 would be the worst day of their life. They said nothing so I closed with the standard, "go perform the deed to yourself."

          Thiefs.

I find it highly strange that your city would waste money on a lawyer after discovering their error. Why didn't they just send you another bill with an explanation on it?

                  Hey Mike...

I like Sgt. Dave's suggestion, pay them with pennies and I would unroll them and make them count the damn things!

Even better, you can "accidentally" drop them on the floor. On THEIR side of the counter, so that they have to pick them up before counting them.

Along with the pennies I'd toss in a couple of rolls worth of nickles, one roll of dimes, and six quarters just to make it more confusing. I sure if they can't bill correctly, they certainly can't count. And use one of them five gallon water cooler bottles to bring them in.
