Recently, someone from another forum was bragging to me about how their forum passed Officer.com in member numbers, so I thought I'd let you all know how to put them into some perspective.
The forum that passed us has 2806 members registered at the moment. However, 1511 (give or take 1 or 2) of those registered people have never posted. Another 530 (again, give or take 1 or 2) posted once and never returned. That means 765 of their members stuck around long enough to make 2 posts or more.
That forum also went for a period where it made people register simply to view the forum.
This forum has 2753 registered members as of this post. A while back, we deleted hundreds of members that registered over a year ago and had made no posts. That took those numbers from our total. Currently, of the 2753 registered, 502 made 1 post only and 685 have registered and never posted. That means at least 1566 members made 2 posts or more........ a mere 801 more posting members than the forum that is bragging to me.
So, if their goal is to just get people registered, then they win. If that were our goal, we wouldn't have deleted the hundreds we did delete.
To the 1500+ members that stayed and posted, thank you for your participation.
