  • What's the most tickets you've given OR received at once?

Last night, I responded to a '10-45'(vehicular accident), to find a Chevy S-10 sitting on its NOSE. A 19 year old kid had run a STOP sign(estimated speed by his own admission was in excess of 60MPH in a 30MPH zone), clipped the very corner of another car's front end(had the Right of Way), run through a woman's yard(taking out a 3-foot tall brick pillar), JUST missing her house, before plunging down a 10-foot embankment, finally stopping. Fortunately, nobody was injured. I could have given the driver 5 citations, but held off at 3(I ran out of tickets in my book ).

Just 1 at a time (received)... I think you need to be excessively rude or dangerous to get more than 1 at a time...
Have you ever noticed? Anybody going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac.

If you're including UAR's.. That would be six charges... DUI, Following to closely, Evading, Insufficient insurance, Simple trespass, and refusing to be fingerprinted.
And he got to stay at the "Holiday Inn Express" for the night.

Our citation form allows for four charges to be placed so that's generally the most that I will write at any given moment. Of course, if like Fastie said...they are excessively rude they could always convince me to write another citation out and list more!! After all, I've got alllllllllllll day!

NC Uniform Citations allow for two charges per citation.

Out of extremely reckless chases, I have written up to 4 citations (eight charges) on a couple of occasions. On one, I recall overlooking about 4 more just because I was tired of writing.

On the other, I took my time, and flirted with the nurses in the nurse's station, since the BG was busy getting some stiches... [Wink]

I even made this a "line" I used with uncooperative BGs for a while-

"I don't mind a BIT to flirt with nurses and drink coffee in the nurses station while you get sewed up"

Wow, it'd be great if we could write more than 1 citation on our tickets. As a result, the most I've ever written is 3 - Unregistered Vehicle, Operating After Revocation, Marijuana Possession. If I'd had the time, I could have also dinged him for Altered Registration, Seatbelt Violation and many, many equipment violations.

Other than one parking ticket, I've only ever received speeding tickets and they've just been one at a time. In 2001 I got one in July and another one in September. I'm going on two years now without a speeding ticket. I'm very proud of myself.

I've never received more than one.

I personally have never written more than 2 (darn working in the jail). One of our patrol guys I rode wite once wrote a guy a total of 9 (of course since I was there I had to write out some of them for him to save time). IIRC, they were:
                  1.non-registation of m/v
                  2.operate after revoked
                  3.operate w/prohibited bac
                  4.operate while intox
                  5.posession MJ
6.smoking in a county vehicle/building (shouldn't have lit up in the back seat)
                  7.open intoxicants as a driver
                  8.speeding (+18)
                  9.failure to maintain control

I'm sur we could have easily hit 12-15 if we would've wanted more on that guy.
Nobody ever wants to have to fight, but its a darn good idea for someone to know how.

We had to be a little careful here. In California they call (or called, it may have changed by now) "stacking charges." Many traffic violations would be considered to be a "lesser and included offense." Of course if you got into other things, such as open container (with no DUI, just a "normal" traffic stop) then you could go for that. Of course there are many more, that is just an example.

OTOH open container would be considered part of the "lesser and included offenses" in a simple DUI case.

i cleared a car once. 4 people in it - 1 arrest and a total of 19 citations on that one stop.

the most to one person was 8.

I've seen it twice, always with long-armed lanky guys.

One was mine, one was another officer's.
