  • Spike Lee is so full of himself

The National Network, TNN, planned to change its name to Spike TV, billing itself as the network for men.

Spike Lee decided that somehow, the were infringing on his name and got a temporary injuntion prohibiting the name change. A gutless judge just upheld the injuction for now.

[i]Spike Lee was victorious in another round of his lawsuit against TNN to keep the network from changing its name to Spike TV.

Maybe they could rename themselves "The Jesse Network". That way it would probably only cost them $250,000 like it cost NASCAR.

I caught this story on Celebrity Justice a few days ago. The judge stated that celebrities have a right to protect their image.

Have you ever heard Spike Lee referred to as just "Spike?" I could see blocking the name change if TNN were to turn into "Cher TV" or "Prince TV," but Spike TV? I didn't even think of Spike Lee until this lawsuit was brought forth.

I caught a piece earlier today on Fox News.

Since TNN is losing money on this, the judge ordered Spike Lee to put up a $2.5 million bond to continue this suit.

I think the people who made the Tom and Jerry cartoons should sue Spike Lee. I'm sure it infringed on their name of that dog named Spike they had.

Around here there was a place called Johnnys Transmissions, in Arlington Texas, and Johnny had some billboards put up advertising his shop, and saying he was the "working mans friend". He also put his picture on the billboard.

The problem was that Johnny looks just like Willie Nelson. A real close match if I do say so. I did work for him a few times also.

Willie Nelson didn't like it, and sued Johnny over the billboard saying that Johnny was using his (Willie's) face to get business. Willie lost because the judge said the Johnny, being older than Willie, had the face first and could therefore advertise that way without paying Willie anything.

If TNN was smart they'd rename the network
                        "F-Spike".

Adding the 'F' would screw his lawsuit and tell him to F- off at the same time.

The "male demographic" they are catering to would love it.

I'm still trying to figure out the whole "Spike-TV" thing and why that's something manly (other than the obvious)? How did they decide that "SPIKE" was manly? I mean, why not the MAN channel, or the MACHO channel or the ARR ARR ARR channel (in honor of Tim Allen)?

And while we're at it, somebody to tell Lifetime to change to the CHICK channel or the man-HATER channel, because that's what it is! I mean, how many women in peril movies are there, for crying out loud?

That would be pretty close to the other campaign by the WWF, which is on TNN.

The WWF lost a case in the UK. They World Wildlife Fund claimed they owned the rights to those initials and a UK court incorrectly (IMO) ruled in favor of them.

So the WWF, became the WWE and their campiagn was "Get the F out".

That why I call it The Victim Channel.
