Baby survives 7-story fall

PEEKSKILL, New York (AP) -- A man was arrested Monday and charged with tossing his baby daughter out a seventh-floor apartment window, police said.

The 10-month-old girl survived the 80-foot fall, crashing through several tree branches before landing on the ground. She suffered only cuts and bruises.

Police said Willie Williams barged into his ex-girlfriend's apartment late Saturday in a bid to persuade her to get back together with him.

Police said they argued and Williams dangled the baby out a window. The mother called 911 and Williams dropped the girl, police said.

"Oh, my God!" police quoted the mother as telling the 911 operator. "He killed my baby."

Williams then left the apartment, grabbed the baby and drove her to a nearby hospital.

Williams was charged with attempted murder, assault and unlawful imprisonment. He was in jail awaiting arraignment late Monday. It was unclear whether he had retained a lawyer.

Think of it this way.

The cops give him a hiding, the case gets thrown out of court, he gets a massive cash pay-off in lieu of civil action, the officers lose their jobs and probably go to prison ...

or alternatively ...

The cops treat him decently and humanely, do everything by the book, get him potted and enjoy the fact that he has many, many years of fun and games with his 24/7 constant companions to look forward to.

Of course, nothing will prohibit "civil" officers from discussing the facts of the case loudly in or near his cell block.

I really dont know how ya'll can handle this type of thing without snapping and hurting people like this....do ya'll have to attend seminars to learn control or is it just expected? I dont know if I could control myself...that's why ya'll are the L.E's and I am not, I guess.

That's why a lot of people don't last in LE. As angry as we sometimes get, restraint is the best way to go. As Niteshift said, there are subtle ways to make sure the b(*^&%$ gets what he deserves.

It's reassuring to know that even the incarcerated have their moral standards regarding crimes against children. I'm sure the other inmates will bring that to Willie's attention.

Bunny - I once asked one of the detectives at the department where I used to work, how he kept from reaching across the table and choking the living daylights out of bad guys when they were lying...they knew they were lying, the detectives knew they were lying, and I knew they were lying when I typed the transcripts of the tapes. His answer: Because I'm a professional.

That said, hope Mr. Williams get to spend a loooooonnnnnggg time in prison with fella's who are not as professional as the police.
