  • Jail break! I'm not kidding.....

    0242 this AM:

    'Dispatch, 411'

    'Go ahead'

'411, the fire alarm is going off in the jail...we're unable to make contact with jail personnel.'

    '10-4, in route'

Note the time. I'm the ONLY city officer working. Thankfully, 2 other city officers that had just gone '10-7' a few minutes earlier, went back '10-8'.

I'm the first unit on the scene. It is still undetermined as to exactly what the problem is. I approach the sally port(only area for a visual) on foot and observe, through the door window, an inmate trying to use the phone provided inmates during booking.

I advise dispatch of my observation. They ask if I want the TacTeam activated.
'10-4', I reply. TacTeams from 2 surrounding agencies are also activated.

Anothe city officer radios me and informs me that if it IS a fire, then the inmates SHOULD be relocated to the exercise yard. No inmates are in sight. When this other officer arrives, he observes inmates housed in the Federal wing, pounding frantically on their cell windows.

By the time other units arrive, it's been confirmed that there IS a fire.....and 5 inmates have escaped. The escapees' crimes range from burglary to capitol murder.

The method used to exact the escapes is still under investigation, but as of 0700 this AM, all 5 are still at large.

Being an election year, this event could prove interesting.....

So they tried to abduct a female CO, that sounds like this could have been much worse if that fire didn't get started!

WOW, that sucks. In the 2yrs i've been in my current job we've uncovered about 5 or 6 plots almost the exact same as this one. Luckily, no one has tried to put one to work.

Also, NICE JOB by the female inmates who saw what was happening.
Nobody ever wants to have to fight, but its a darn good idea for someone to know how.

                UPDATE:

3 are back in custody. Unfortunately, the 2 WORST ones are still at large and have vowed 'NOT to go back to jail.'

Wanna know what's WEIRD? Yesterday, as I was going in to work, I had what can only be described as an 'uneasy feeling'....like when you KNOW something 'isn't right', but can't articulate WHY you feel that way?

I borrowed this icon from Don. I hope he dosen't mind, but if he does, I won't have to hear about it for several more days...

Why don't you start using this icon and sending it on email to all the brass at the SO.

Shooter, this is not weird OR unusual. This is what keeps cops alive my friend. Who knows where it comes from. Some call it a sixth sense, some call it a gut feeling. But whatever you call it, pay attention to it.
