    Jules,

Do it. Don't go to bed without the police checking your house.

Besides, the officer might be a hottie!

I'd follow txinvestigators' advice if you have an attic.

Check it or have someone check it for you. Not trying to sound paranoid, but anything is possible these days.

Well, if they know a house has been broken into in you area, locked or not, they may patrol and catch someone in another house in our area, Jules. Think of filing the report as maybe helping others.

I don't know, maybe it was a prank. I just can't see calling the cops on this, although it still gives me the creeps. Maybe it was someone I know playing a game on me. Sucks whatever it is...

    Locks will be changed.

Don't worry about how it looks, Jules. File the report for your safety. Maybe they will patrol by your house a bit more often. And you don't know something wasn't taken. Sometimes, you don't figure that out until to go to use something and it's gone.
Just change those locks and file that report. If they have it on file, it could mean they could catch someone in someone elses house in the area because they know your house was broken into.

Okay, It wasn't my ex. I talked to him, and I believe him. I couldn't see him doing that anyway.
Geeez Lueez! Someone has been here today!
Nothing gone or moved and NO I'm not going to call the cops, yet.

How am I going to look doing that? Doors unlocked?

    "Oh for God's Sake"?

She was not sure it was her ex, and I'd rather be careful than end up assaulted in my home.

Don't have a cavalier attitude about this Jules.

Oh for God's sake.. just change the locks... unless you completely don't trust your ex and you think he's going to murder you... just forget about it and change the locks asap. He probably did just lock it for you. Just come out and ask him if he did it.

Maybe I have a different view on this, but occassionally my ex has come over (bastard steals my food) I told him he can't just come into my house and he was like.. "okay"... then again he is being pretty civil about the divorce now. He's been gone a month, but respectfully he does knock. your ex probably knocked, checked the door and it was open... he probably yelled for you but ya weren't home...locked the door and left.. (after sniffing underwear and stuff) lol...

Hey... don't let these guys freak you out... you know what your ex is capable of... it might **** you off, but do you think he's going to really hurt/kill you???

As I said. Just change your locks, you should do that anyway after you buy a new house. never know what kind of freaks used to live there... [Wink]

Would I be out of line if I suggested a gun?

And calling the police if you even suspect someone is or was in the house?

    Jules,

I am dead serious about this. Call the police and make a report, NOW! While awaiting them look all throughout your house, drawers, boxes, etc. to see if anything not immediately noticeable is missing.

Burglars DO lock doors behind them to keep someone from walking in on them.

If it was your ex, you should send a STRONG signal that you will not tolerate that.

I just thought of something else, does your house have attic or crawl space access from the inside of the house?

What would he be doing in MY house in the first place. This is not his house, never was. Just cause he's my EX doesn't mean he can enter my house.

Maybe your XH thought you had forgotten to lock it and locked it for you.If nothing is missing or mesed up, that would be my logical assumption. Or do thieves lock doors when they are done? I dunno.
