  • Administrators/Moderators Question

How did you guys get to become Administrators and Moderators and what qualifications did you need for the job.

And no I'm not questioning your authority!

I have blackmail photos of Jim with Niteshift so they let me become a mod to shut me up.

I suppose I should remain silent. Email me, and I'll tell you what I know. It's pretty graphic.

Specs, I heard it as because you just know how to type fast! lol Seriously, we have great moderators. I've been on board where they censor so much, it's no fun. Some let it go to their heads. It's not an esy job to moderate. But you don't see a whole lot of banning here. That's good. I've been on baords where you can be banned for just disagreeing with a moderator.

First there is a blood ritual involving the sacrifice of a virgin.......which is REALLY tough to find around here.

last month the admin on OFFDUTY (UK) message board opened a new thread ASKING for candidates for moderator to STEP FORWARD
we're still waiting for 1 person to submit themselves as a candidate

the thing is, how can you be a mod and a member at the same time ?
only if you have the respect of all the members
mods who's decisions are constantly queried (I've seen it on other boards) don't have that respect
                    familiarity breeds contempt
                    SO
we need somebody UNKNOWN who could gain respect by top decisions and knowhow
                    INTERESTED ??
everybody thinks being a mod is the ultimate powertrip on a board.... until the decisions have to be made eh ??

What is the difference between an Administrator and a Moderator.

Mike - what does "Circling the Bowl" mean? [Wink]

The difference between mods and admins is that the mods can't ban posters, as far as I know.

"Circling the bowl" is a phrase that has its roots in the old days of the great depression, when dust storms wreaked havoc on the the plains states and destroyed many crop. These areas were known as "dust bowls" and the circular motion of the storms over said areas gave rise to the term, "circling the bowl".

I thought it required money. Lots and lots of money. [Wink]

But maybe that's just to buy the virgin...?

Couldn't use Mike. After that incident with the boys swim team in high school, Mike is damaged goods. [Eek!]
