  • do you watch cop shows?

I usta love everything out there... most fav was "PI" type shows... Simon & Simon, Magnum, Rockford, Columbo... etc. Hill Street (sob, sigh) Never have liked Law & Order but that's more about the directing and editing than the actual show... Walker, Texas Ranger is just plain eye-candy...mmmmmm.

But I've found since I started work in LE 3 years ago, I watched less and less... to the point that I haven't had a working TV in the house in a year and have no immediate plans to change that. I thought I'd like Third Watch... didn't. Got vaguely interested in Crossing Jordan, set in my hometown, great soundtrack... but quickly lost interest when things went incredibly unbelieveable in the first season.

I think if I had cable I might watch some of the OLD shows for the entertainment... but I'm wondering if I'm just a snob now or is it normal to not be able to watch them.

(Guess I should mention I worked *in* TV for 10+ years and I also don't watch any kind of news or sporting event without noticing camera angles, lighting, poor or good directing, mistakes etc., so maybe it's just me)

I just watch COPS occasionaly. I found it very interesting when they filmed it in our city cause I knew some of the cops in it. I had met them when I took went to the Citizens Police Academy.

I used to watch a lot of the shows you mentioned, particularly the private eye shows but nowadays I hardly watch any cop shows. I do still take in an occasional show like Third Watch & Monk but I can't get into these Law & Order series & all the CSI type shows.

I watch the Law and Order reruns on TNT. I don't care for the spin-offs. Last few months I've been given the duty of watching COPS to tape it for my family. My stepson will be on eventually. His department has been on twice so far. The show emails them to let them know when their department will be on but doesn't tell which segment it will be. My family doesn't trust the notification so I'm taping it every week

I enjoy watching COPS and protect and protect and serve on TLC. Don't have much time anymore for tv or anything else.

Nope. Watch Cops if I'm flipping through the channels and it's a paticular city. Also use to watch Rockford for fun.

I think many of us would say the older ones are classics that we "grew up on" but I don't watch them now generally-in fact-when I have no choice to but to watch them (someone else's house) they irritate me they are so inaccurate.
People have more fun than anybody.

I agree with Chiefy Brown, Heartbeat is an excellent light hearted period cop show but how old are you Chiefy? Greengrass has been gone for years! Did you see "ZCars, after they were famous" the other night?
If you get a chance on PBS watch Inspector Morse, set in Oxford its more a murder mystery than a cop show but with dep plots a beautiful old Jaguar, opera and real beer its well worth watching.
