I usta love everything out there... most fav was "PI" type shows... Simon & Simon, Magnum, Rockford, Columbo... etc. Hill Street (sob, sigh) Never have liked Law & Order but that's more about the directing and editing than the actual show... Walker, Texas Ranger is just plain eye-candy...mmmmmm.
But I've found since I started work in LE 3 years ago, I watched less and less... to the point that I haven't had a working TV in the house in a year and have no immediate plans to change that. I thought I'd like Third Watch... didn't. Got vaguely interested in Crossing Jordan, set in my hometown, great soundtrack... but quickly lost interest when things went incredibly unbelieveable in the first season.
I think if I had cable I might watch some of the OLD shows for the entertainment... but I'm wondering if I'm just a snob now or is it normal to not be able to watch them.
(Guess I should mention I worked *in* TV for 10+ years and I also don't watch any kind of news or sporting event without noticing camera angles, lighting, poor or good directing, mistakes etc., so maybe it's just me)
