  • CO's involved in LEO Programs?

Ok I wasn't quite sure how to title this...I was looking at one of the Sheriff's Office not far from Metro New Orleans to see if they were looking for deputies. All they list are positions for CO's, which I'm considering. So my question is if you work for a sheriff's department in corrections are you allowed to participate in the programs they have such as helping out with an explorer post, dare program assisting with citizens. I'm guessing that would not be possible since that's obviously not the purpose of a co. But in your departments are CO's allowed to participate, if not what are the outside opportunities. Are they allowed details? Hope this makes some sense-just gotting finished writing a crappy paper on the book Crime Fighter and my mind is drained.

that depends on your agency's policy.....

you as a c/o ( deputy sheriff) jail division

will be working in the jail, courts , or transport

and all duties relating not to police work per yr state definition.

if they allow you to do other things, more than likely it will

be as a volunteer, auxillery deputy, or reserve deputy ( police certif)

so it's agency by agency decision on how much they will allow you to do.
