You spend about 2-5 years in the jail at the L.A.S.D. You can also do your custody time in the courts or driving the buses to and from court. Due to LASD having the largest jail/court system in the country, it is a good experience before you go to the streets. No matter what dept. you're at, the custody time is good experience. You learn how to handle and talk to criminals.
