  • New Job

Starting Monday, I will be the new security supervisor at our site. The company has been very good to me as a guard and it should be interesting adding this new career path to my resume. I am still considering the police force but at the same time, I am making more than a Canadian 1st class constable (50,000+) and working straight days. To say I'm having mixed feelings is an understatement. For the time being, I am putting aside my police aspirations but at the same time, the company is paying for me to further my education and gain in depth training. Who knows I may still use this in a couple of years to pursue my dream. I'm still relatively young and the experience gathered here will only make me a better candidate.

There is a lot to say for private security in some cases. I know there are hospitals in the area where they have well paid securty officers who have a good relationship with the police officers. When I was a security officer I was well respected by the police officers and made sure that when I caught someone I had all the paperwork I could get done ready for them so that it made their paperwork a lot easier. Sitting back and getting a good description without alerting the suspects and giving a play by play to dispatch is nice too. Even in the job I am at now I still do all I can to assist the street officers if they are in my area.
