  • Police Officer DUI Tazed By Troopers

A Pickerington Ohio Detective was arrested and charged with DUI and resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after a struggle with Ohio Highway Patrol Troopers inside the Patrol Post.

Arrest started after a trooper noticed vehicle run a red light on St Rt 315 and after pulling over vehicle driver did identify himself as a police detective. Trooper at the point noted nothing unusual and let driver go with warning.

A few miles down the road another trooper observed a vehicle run a stop sign and pulled car over. Same car same off duty detective. This time the trooper did smell alcohol and arrested detective for DUI and the stop sign.

Detective refused breath test at patrol post and became belligerent and combative with troopers and was tazed in order to subdue him.
Pickerington Police Chief says the 4 yr officer will likley loose his job if charges hold up.

I can't wait till news media shows the tapes on this one.

    DUI tazed

hopefully this Det will see the errors of his ways after getting sober and do the right thing. Plead guily and resign. First Trooper was probably giving him the benefit of doubt, but know GHQ they will probably files charges against this TROOPER for not arresting him to begin with,, a favor always seems to come back and bite one in the ***

It really sucks when another officer puts you in that situation, but I agree with what the second Trooper did.

Well a mistake yes....But when your have to be tased and charged with resisting it is harder to keep your job and therefore it would look bad on the department retaining the detective.

Hmmm I hope this came out the way I meant......

Refusal to submit to BAC test is an automatic 1 year loss of license here. You cant police without a DL. I imagine it's a little worse in Ohio.

                    charges against officer

No doubt that a resisting arrest will get you fired and to the point it got physical, striking out at another officer from another department is grounds for dismissal. This Det should have thought of this before he started the journey

DUI is one of those "moral turpitude" crimes that police officers cannot violate. Kinda like misdemeanors that cast a bad light on the profession.
