    Bodie,
I think they want to prosecute on the state level in case there is an acquittal. That way they can still try them in Federal Court for violating the officer's civil rights. Just a guess

I agree with Bodie. Cop killers for the most part are the most ruthless people in society. You don't see other professionals being killed just for who they are and what they do.[/QUOTE]

Unless you include doctors that work at abortion clinics. Cop killers should be released to the officers department for their next PBA party. I can bet the state would save a fortune on appeals and housing.

While I am all in favor of the death penalty, I am not in favor of it for special classes of people. That includes LAw enforcement officers, and yes, I was a law enforcement officer.

LEO are no more valuable to society than any other professional person out there, and no more valuable to my family than I am.

A life is a life, and the Death penalty should apply equally to all members of our society, whatever their status may be.

I agree and you would have my vote, however, I believe the term "Mandatory death penalty" would kill the bill before it ever got started. Pardon the pun.

I totally agree!!!! Is there any bill or some kind of motion for this to become a reality? I'm not a police officer yet but am going through the testing process, and did some reserves for awhile. I also have many friends that are police officers and ****es me off when I hear stories like this where people can pretty much just walk... If a bill like this was going to be voted on I would vote for it and I know many others who would also vote for it.

Thanks fo all the hard work that you men an women do everyday!

We ought to send them all to Texas or adopt their laws, they seem to be doing a good job of actually executing them, not just talking about it or having the death penalty in name only. I'm ashamed of my states poor stats on executions, you think being in the south, that we would have a better showing. I just don't trust the federal government, because we get one or two more liberals on the supreme court, it's over, and we'll never be able to reverse the damage that will be done. Not to mention the next democrat that is due to come into the White House, (and it will happen) will probably make Clinton look like a conservative.

I agree with you Bodie. In Sweden we dont have death penalty for police killers. But I wish we have that as soon as possible. To kill somebody in Sweden cost you at top 14 years in prison, but most of them get a way with 4-8 years. It make me sick. A life is worth nothing in my country.

Is it not already inclusive that the murder of any police officer is handled at the state level and this imposes the death penalty for individuals that do so..Quick question though..the murder of a Fed automatically qualifies life imprisonment or the death penalty case by case or is it state by state

Perfect, also in the Federal System there is no shortening of sentences. If he gets life, he stays for life. And yes appeals process is shorter and the execution happens faster. I am in total agreement with you Bodie.
