  • Reserve Officer Question

I currently live in Atlanta, GA and was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. 2 years ago I made a huge mistake and got myself in trouble. I was not arrested but was terminated from the department for I think "Conduct". My question is does anyone know of any Reserve programs in Florida or anywhere else in the US that would consider someone in my position? Also, do you know of any departments that allow out of state applications? I own my own business now and can move anywhere but REALLY want to get back involved as a reserve deputy. Any help would be greatly apprcieated. I would also be willing to provide more information (What the offense was) if helps answer my question. Thanks!!

It really depends on the nature and circumstances of the termination.

I asked a female to do something in exchange for something. I was released to my department and not charged but I still have a file with my department so I guess if I ever try to go anywhere else I can only be honest about the incident. It was 2 years ago and I have paid dearly. All I want to do is get back with a reserve or auxiallry department.

It just depends on how severe your infraction was. Your expereince should help. Here we undergo a complete background investigation, more than likey the fact that you were cut loose would come up. Then you would have to certify. Lots of depts. wont hire anyone that has screwed up , but its pretty much up to the Sherrif or Chief. All you can do is talk to them first to see how far you'd get.

I think your huge mistake asking a woman for exchange for something might be your last one concerning LEO. You are sworn to uphold to conduct becomimg a police officer. I'd check around and hope some chief may give you a second chance. It all depends what you wanted to trade. You did say you wasn't arrested. Had to be something serious since you thought you could be arrested.
