We qualify once a year and get special photo IDs to carry. Retired officers keep their duty weapons when they retire at my PD.

I hear that Mass., Boston in particular, doesn't like this idea.

    Any Mass. officers out there?

I just started into the process after my Agency finally decided on their path.

Get this, I had to be checked thru NCIC again.

Wonder if they'll be wanting a newer set of fingerprints, too.

    DOH!

I'm new here and I may have missed the thread, but does anyone's dept. certify retired officers to use their handgun under this new law? Ours does. Once a year we meet, shoot and duck a lot!

Does anyone know how their state is treating this new law? Some states are balking at retired officers carrying guns into their state.
