What do you guys think of Andrea Yates' sentence? Should she get the death penalty? Just wondered what your thoughts were.

The same thing she gave those innocent and defenseless little kids.. Death.
Unfortunately with lethal injection she won't have to struggle & fight for her life as the kids had to!

First let me say that I do not believe in vengeance but in justice tempered with mercy. Before you get your knickers in a knot....If there was a guarantee society would be protected from monsters such as "Yates" has proven herself to be, then I would say life without parole. But I don't know of any system devised by man that can give me that guarantee, therefore I am left with only one option, the death penalty administered in a humane manner. If I felt otherwise then I would be no better than she is.

There really isn't that much contrast between your point of view and mine. I would classify a shot in the head as being a humane death. What difference the method as long as it is done quickly.

I think life in prison is a good sentence in this case. Let her think about it every day for at least the next 40 years. She is a sick woman.

Texas has those stipulations that must be met for the death penalty, and the jurors must agree unanimously.

Personally, I think she should be drowned.

Somehow I don't think she'd show any remorse whatsoever. No conscious at all.

I can honestly say that, if I were the person who discovered she did this, I would have a hard time not killing her if I had a gun. But, that would make me no better then her. It hurts to know what these children went through, especially the oldest who fought so hard to live.
Just like I feel Susan Smith should be strapped in a car and then have the car pushed into a lake, I think Andrea Yates should get death by drowning t. These people who commit these horrible crimes go out so easy. They are out when they die and suffer no pain.
I recently watched an TV magazine article where a sister and brother who helped their parents run a pawn shop were killed by a man on drugs. It tore my heart out to see their father, when he reached the scene, rip his own shirt off and scream and acream and scream. They have one adult daughter left. I can't even begin to understand how she must feel.
They were present when their child murderer was given lethal injection. They commeneted after that he never suffered like their kids did.
It ended showing the mother planting flowers at her childrens graves, like she does every Sunday.
Life sure isn't fair.

I believe that anyone who kills kids should receive death.

I think that she will be very lucky to survive in prison unless she is put in administrative segregation for the rest of her life.
