I know we've seen this a time or two on this forum, but the LAPD has updated their website and has a place for interesting facts: "The LAPD badge, motto, uniform and acronym are the Intellectual Property of the City of Los Angeles." I guess that answers a lot of questions dealing with the LAPD and the show "The Shield." Here's the link with that info:
