  • Gas prices ^^^?

In the past week, WalMart's price for REGULAR has gone from $.99 to $1.14(others have followed suit). It's too early for 'tourist season' pricing, so.........what have I missed?

Don't know about your area, but our jump in prices has Spring Break written all over it.

I knew it would happen. After 9/11 people weren't traveling. Business was bad so the price went down. Now that people are traveling again and they don't need to take such drastic steps to increase business the price goes up. It's just a question of how far up it goes.

I wish I "only" had to pay $1.14/gallon for fuel. Here in Southern California the prices range from about $1.35 to $1.70 depending on grade, brand, and location. Our Bay Area friends, as usual, will pay 25 cents to as much as 50 cents/gallon more.

Of course, even Bay Area prices will look cheap compared to what our Canadian and especially British friends have to pay.

Hey, I remember the $1.70 prices from last year so $1.15 is OK by me!

            Saw this on MSNBC:
As the driving season begins and crude oil prices rise, the EIA said retail gasoline prices should increase more than 20 cents a gallon by June from current levels, but still remain far below last May’s record high of $1.70 a gallon.
Rising tensions in the Middle East could lead to stepped-up conflict in the region and possibly lower oil exports from the region to the United States.

Canadians are paying $2.50/g for gas but not worth going to states to cross border to buy gas since its 1.70 Canadian to buy one american dollar. We plus the government gets 50% of that 2.50 for taxes..they keep getting richer we get poorer.

We just drove back to MA from FL this week. When we left MA 2 wks ago the price was $1.18 as we headed south it averaged $1.05. When we reached FL it was the same as home...$1.18 but as we drove home the price had jumped to $1.10. I think it was the spring break thing. I am sure it will drop again after Easter.
Our road trip was worth every penny spent...and every stop made.

Here on the very NorthWestern tip of Ca. we are paying $1.69/gal. for the cheap stuff and $1.89/gal. for the exspensive stuff. It might be time to trade in the big V-8 for a little truck (4 cyl.).

In the past 3 weeks, it's gone from $0.99 to as high as $1.26 for REG, here. The 'cheapest' is just across the line in MS, where it's $1.12/gal for REG.
