  • "Drug Related" Boy Is Media DUMB

Got in verbal disagreement with a member of local media last evening. He was told a weekend shooting of a registered sex offender was "drug related" by the local police. He got highly miffed when I told him they had just blown him off.

I had said they were just trying to get rid of him and that "drug related" was a term used on any murder that officers had no clue about and they were just waiting for somebody to snitch on the shooter since they had nothing else to go on. Also told him if a murder labeled "drug related" went unsolved
the police were off the hook.

He was not happy and said I was wrong .... I have some beach front property near Tucson I am offering him at a reduced price today.

Be careful, the media is not our friend all the time. There is a newsman in Houston that loves to bash the Police. He sets them up with undercover cameras and only shows the part that when edited makes the officer look like he did something illegal. I am all for exposing bad elements, checks and balances, but no need to make things up for the ratings. You might set this "Dumb boy" off and he turns against the police like the guy down here. Remember, nothing is ever off the record.

You don't have to do anything to "set them off". Any friendship or trust you think you have with the Media ends when they smell what they think is a hot story. They don't care who gets hurt. A story that destroys your reputation and ends your career is nothing more to them than 3 minutes that fills the void in between Viagra commercials. It doesn't even have to be true. There is no such thing as a reporter who is pro law enforcement. They're all pro "me". NEVER, EVER, TRUST THE MEDIA.
There's nothing wrong with screwing with their heads. They deserve it. They're scum. And yes, most of them are really stupid.

I have to disagree with you. I am a reporter and want to join the police force here.

Planning to take the test again next month...if it all checks out I'm gonna try for the academy.

Would love to be able to help people everyday instead of doing the occasional story that really does some good... most of the time we do "nonsense news"

Next your gonna say that all cops eat doughnuts? Don't judge the whole basket because of one bad apple. Just be careful what you say. We have departmental policy on speaking of cases with media. I have been on several news stories in another agency and they were great at making me look good on tv. Real nice to talk to and don't underestimate their intelligence. It might be a trick

This guy actually believes the two word "DRUG RELATED" blow off he got when everything in this case points 360 degrees the other way.
