Arizona is a right-to-work state, but I guess my department has a quasi-union affiliated with AZCOPS. I was thinking of joining FOP, but I guess I'd have to pay extra for legal representation, which would be included already in AZCOPS dues. Also, officers have told me that much of the administration are members of FOP, so if I get fired or am under review, it is not likely that an FOP lawyer will be willing to fight the admin over it.
Please advise me on this matter. Am I way off? I would like to make an educated decision on more information than what I have found on the respective union websites.
Thanks,
Brandon
