  • question from the movie SEVEN

To those of you who have seen the ending to Seven, what would actually happen to Brad Pitt's character were the story real - given that he wrongfully used lethal force? I would hope that he wouldn't be charged with murder... Good movie though!

Look Every Person Has A Breaking Point If It Was Me I Probably Would Have Done The Same Thing , Im Not Saying That I Would Be Justified But That Bastard Would Not Be Breathing .

Honestly, what do you THINK would happen in real life to an LEO if he shot a handcuffed prisoner dead.

            There were extenuating circumstances!

Look at the Internal Affairs category off of the home page. Read about the deputy from Otero County. I had a friend do the same thing. He is still in prison.

Which even though I understand WHY was, sadly enough, my point.

I would say there would be an excellent chance that Pitt's character would have been found not guilty by a jury.

Don't you remember the guy who executed his son's molester as he was being escorted through the airport? The suspect looked like a young Pete Townshend, and was being led by two detectives who brought him back on a rendition warrant. The father was waiting by a pay phone, shot the perv in the head, then dropped the gun & surrendered. It was caught on videotape, I thought every cop had seen it.

                        Not guilty of murder charges.

Because the dope used an unlicensed handgun. Pitt's character was obviously allowed to have a handgun.

The dad should have just gone to Sears and bought a chainsaw.

Depends on the state. Official Code of Georgia Annotated Title 16, Chapter 5, Section 2:
A person commits the offense of voluntary manslaughter when he causes the death of another human being under circumstances which would otherwise be murder and if he acts solely as the result of a sudden, violent, and irresistible passion resulting from serious provocation sufficient to excite such passion in a reasonable person; however, if there should have been an interval between the provocation and the killing sufficient for the voice of reason and humanity to be heard, of which the jury in all cases shall be the judge, the killing shall be attributed to deliberate revenge and be punished as murder.
That's the law. Cops are not exempt from it.
You have no right to not be offended.-Neal Boortz
