    MORE PC BS run amok:

The tradition of show-and-tell is slowly disappearing from American school, reports the St. Petersburg Times, partly because teachers want to avoid creating self-esteem problems for children who don’t bring interesting enough items.

The goal of the exercise, to promote self-esteem, "backfires when children try to outdo each other," writes Katherine Snow Smith. "Show and tell" turns into "bring and brag." Mona Schuster, a child development specialist with the Pinellas County schools in Florida, says the intent was to make children feel better about themselves by bringing something from home. But in later years, she says, kids have started bringing in things that are bigger and better and brighter than what their friends brought in.

    boo frikkin' hoo!!!!!
    --------------------------------------

    and now this:

A Chicago cable news channel suspended one employee, fired a contributor and issued an apology after an anchor made a reference to Aunt Jemima on air, reports the Chicago Sun Times.

An episode of "Sports Page" on CLTV featured a spokesman for a local hunting and fishing days event dressed in traditional hunting camouflage and a turkey-feather hat. The show’s host, Steve Kashul, remarked that the spokesman "looked a lot like Aunt Jemima."

Following complaints about the remark, the station management issued an apology to viewers for what it called an "insensitive and inappropriate" broadcast that violated "programming and workplace standards."
    -----

i think aunt jemima pancakes should be banned. AND her syrup too!!! racist maple syrup providers!!!!!

and so should mrs. butterworth. the feminists should be up in arms about a woman being held down to the lowly position of "syrup pusher". she should be boycotted because she does not represent the true woman of the new millenium.

and while we're at it, let's boycott sara lee. surely she has better things to do than to be locked up in a hot kitchen making pastries all day.

and lastly let's boycott summer's eve. i think eve should make better use of her time than mixing ******s!!

    hee hee haa haa.
    I'll post, You argue.

In the grand scheme of things, does this stuff really matter to you?

This BS does matter, because it is tearing our country apart. People get oversensitive about every little thing and then demand that others' speech be censored to fit their brittle feelings. No one is allowed to say what they really think anymore because some tender soul will get their feelings hurt. Look what happened when a character in a movie made some true statements about MLK. People should be able to say what's on their mind without obfuscating and covering it with PC doublespeak to the point that all meaning is lost.
Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. - Ronald Reagan

I don't think It'll happen in the US because we don't trust our government. We are a country of skeptics, raised by skeptics, founded by skeptics. - Amaroq

well as long as this kinda crap continues, yeah it does matter to me as it should matter to everyone.

no one can say or do anything anymore without someone being offended.

see....i'm offended at someone being offended.

        screw 'em!!!!

ateamer -- you made my point for me.

One thing we can't do in this life is tell someone else how they should or shouldn't feel.

We can chose to care about how our actions make others feel, or we can choose not to.

With that said, I do think alot of the stuff listed there IS a little ridiculous...

What this country need is a giant f'n enema!
I try to not be P.C. Those who know me know I try to be polite, but as far as offending people, I occasionally cross the line a few times.
Hey did you here the one about Aunt Jermima and Uncle Ben at show and tell?

just put ex-lax in the water supply. by the time everyone empties themselves NO ONE will have any brains left. sometimes when my 16 year old son does something really stupid sometimes i do tell him that he has "S#!t for brains". of course in this day and age of PCism that would probably be considered child abuse and i will now spend the rest of my days in prison because i didn't coddle my child and sit with him in hilary's "village" to discuss his issues.

if you crossed ben gay with uncle ben, would that make "uncle ben gay"???
