I quit playing the radio in my car. Why? Because these commercials use loud sirens and other loud sounds that scare the crap out of me. I've even pulled over before, thinking there was a cop car or rescue vehicle near, even tho I couldn't see any lights or anything in my mirrors. I don't think commersials should be allowed to use sirens just to catch the listeners attention. One day, they had a commercial of screeching tires and a loud crash and I could have sworn I had just heard an accident near me....and it was just a commercial. The impact sounded so real, it took awhile for my adrenalin to stop running. So, I don't turn my radio on anymore.

That ticks me off too- I don't listen to the radio much, so commercials aren't a big deal, but they put it in songs too, and it freaks me out too. Even after I've heard the song a couple of times and KNOW it's coming up, I still jump when I hear it. At least I'm paying some sort of attention though- It ****es me off unbelievably when I pull over for a rescue vehicle running Code 3 and people start honking and passing me, then 5 seconds later, when they are face to face with an oncoming cruiser/ambulance/firetruck they don't know how to get out of the way so they just stop dead. grrr.Don't take life too seriously- you'll never come out of it alive.

Oh I totally agree with all of you, and I have a a story for you about one particular night.
I pick up this lady friend, she is also know as a lady of the night. So I'm with a lady of the night and I'm listening to some tunes on the radio, and then wham, a commercial about penile erection dysfuction comes on. Kills the mood immediately, the the lady of the night tells me that it will cost more if David Banner doesn't become the Incredible Hulk. Oh how I hate when that happens."are you going to bark all day little doggie or are you going to bite"

Sooo Mr. Orange, would it be fair to say that you weren't the man of the night that evening?

Mitzi...I wouldn't have told that if I were you...
Wonderwoman-THERE'S our link! I am know for my use of a scan button. I've got to know I'm not missing a better song by changing manually and stopping!
I don't have issue with commercials, but I've kinda found myself on the negative side of remote unlock and lock devices that use the horn as a signal.
As far back as driver's ed, I have been taught that the horn is an emergency signal, and I've treated it as such. I tend to react to any horn-if it's close-I stop (if I'm backing or moving slowly) if it's farther away I at LEAST look to see what the problem is. I have even stopped when backing out of a space, and some yuppie next to me hits the remote to lock his/her car with the little "look at me" toot (function or vanity????????)
Now, with all the remotes, a car horn in a parking lot has become nothing but mere background noise, and now, I find myself (and many others) NOT REACTING to car horns now.
I mean-does it take a HORN BLOWING to tell you that your little button is working? Whoever invented it MUST be vain and inconsiderate.People have more fun than anybody.

The horn thing is probably mostly vanity- I know a lot of cars there is the option to turn that off. Then when you hit the unlock/lock only the lights flash.
&Yeah, the horn thing is a lot like car alarms these days- I never bother anymore to check to see if someone is breaking into a car if the alarm is going off- it's always just some moron fumbling with his/her keys.Maybe there was a time when people looked, but I don't think so anymore.
