For my Eletronic Media class, our *big* class assignment is to interview a person working in a media related field that we are interested in. First person to pop in my mind is photographer Jodi Cobb. Jodi Cobb photographed a series of shots titled "The Women Behind the Veil" which depicted women in Saudi Arabia in 1986. These pictures had a big impact on my life, inspiring me to learn about the history of women's rights and it opened my eyes to the fact that women are still oppressed in other parts of the world. She also did several other series on China and of geishas.
Anyway, I put a call in to the Washington D.C. branch of National Geographic and left a message for the assistant of the Photography department. She called back today and left me a message when I was out that she had forwarded my request to Jodi and that Jodi or herself would be getting back with me!!
I'm so excited.. I really look up to this woman and the chance to meet her and perhaps see the National Geographic office is a dream come true. If she is agreeable, I will even fly out there for the weekend!
Wish me luck!
