  • Cop killer in Milwaukee convicted

This is local to me so I've been following the case closely... Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigations Agent Jay Balchunas was shot 10/29/2004 in a robbery attempt on the city's north side, and died later in the hospital. A suspect was later arrested and confessed to shooting the officer. He was recently tried and found guilty, but his scumbag lawyer is planning to appeal it even though the guy admitted guilt... just makes me mad.

I guess there's not much to discuss here, but it's good to know that people like this get caught and locked up.

I wonder if it would be possible to pass a federal law which specifies that assaulting a police officer is a mandatory ten-year sentence, assaulting with resulting injuries is a mandatory 30 year sentence, and killing an officer gets you an automatic death penalty. Perhaps we could even specify that the death penalty is to be carried out immediately after the trial, with no possibility of appeal.

Might seem a bit harsh, but I prefer it to the present circumstances.
    Cogito ergo summopere periculosus.
